Happy first day of 2026! I love the start of a new year, it always gives me such inspiration and to make even more lists for things I want to accomplish. The last few months of 2025, I felt like I had zero inspiration for anything. But I’m still here and going to keep trying to open up my creative brain!
We had a very chill New Year’s Eve. We started by going to a trampoline park, it was huge and super clean! The kids loved it! For dinner we had tacos, made some fun goodies for the kids, and Kevin had to work a NYE party at one of the local casino’s.
When we stay in for NYE, the kids and I always make a quarter cake. It’s just a regular cake mix cake, we wrap a quarter in foil, and toss it into the pan. Whoever gets the quarter in their piece, gets good luck for the new year! This year, we failed at the quarter cake. Since we made two mini cake pans, one for the quarter cake, and one for cake pops, when it was time to make dinner, Kevin moved the cooling cake pans and he didn’t know we had the right cake pan with the quarters inside. Come to find out, the quarters were in the cake pops, which were really good, but the kids didn’t like them and I didn’t want the temptation of eating them all because I love cake so we pitched them.
Kevin ate dinner with us since he didn’t have to be at the NYE work detail until 9pm. I had bought a few things from the Dollar Tree, one of them was a door decoration that I cut into pieces and hung from the ceiling. Super super simple! Around 7:30pm, we turned on the Dick Clark’s NYE special, and I swear it must be that I’m getting older but I’m not really a fan of any of the music they play on there! I never know half of them unless they are country, or old school that I like. The kids were on their iPads, about ready for bed anyway.
After Huxley went to bed, around 9pm, Hadley and I did some glitter painting. It was fun to do with her, just us. She loves to do any kind of project, especially an art project.
