It can be hard to plan one on one time with your kiddos, so we are going to try something to ensure our daughter gets quality alone time once a month with either Mom or Dad. On Hadley’s birthday date of each month, (her birthday is the 21st, so on or around the 21st of each month), she gets to have a “date” with just Mom or Dad. Having it on the same date each month, or around that date, makes it easy to plan. Plus, it lets Hadley have something to look forward to each month that is special to her.
Hadley and her dad had a pool date! After Kevin got off work at the firehouse, they went up to the pool after dinner and hung out together. The pool was jam packed! But, they had a shortage of lifeguards so they could only swim for a half an hour at a time, so the lifeguards could have breaks.
It’s been so so so hot lately, and the pool has felt amazing! She worked on her dives, played games, and just had a great time hanging with just her dad.
She loves the idea of having special one on one time with her parents each month. We are going to take turns each month so we both get a chance to have our time with her throughout the year. I’m not saying we don’t get one on one time with her; I get a lot of time with her with my husband’s work schedule, but there is something special about planning something each month with her. It can be as simple as playing board games in the basement, coloring for an hour, going to a playground and eating dinner, just simple things. The point is, to be with just her and give her our undivided attention.
Hi friends! Happy Friday! Here are the favorites this week.
CALIA WOMEN’S PONYTAIL CAP This hat looks cute for high buns or ponies! My problem is finding a good hat that I can pull down low on my face and still wear sunglasses. Hat can be found here.
DAILY PORTABLE TINY HANDS I saw this on an Instagram story the other day and cracked up!!! It was a wife that put these next to the things that her husband didn’t put away. Hilarious! Hands can be found here.
AMIKA DREAM ROUTINE OVERNIGHT HYDRATING HAIR MASK Always looking for new products to try! Hair mask can be found here.
FRENCH’S MUSTARD SKITTLES Mustard flavored skittles? Gross. I wonder if they will be at the grocery store, or you have to buy them online. I wonder if they taste as bad as mustard is to me. Skittles can be found here.
BIG MAC TACO’S These look sooo good, even though I’ve never had a big mac! Hah! Recipe can be found here.
Happy Friday everyone, have a great weekend! And as always, thanks for reading!

Favorite Summer Footware – Brooks Gym Shoes, they are the most comfortable for my feet!
What Summer Accessories Are You Wearing On Repeat? FitBit watch, permanent bracelet, Mama necklace or my last name / anniversary necklace, and stud earrings.
What Do You Use For A Summer Bag? My large oversized monogramed beach bag, I use it for the pool, the beach, sporting events, the lake, pretty much anything.
What Summer Scents Are You Wearing? None! I need perfume badly!
Maxi Dress? Romper? Jumpsuit? Romper all the way! This romper is the best!
Favorite Summer Sunglasses? The brand Goodr is amazing! They aren’t super stylish, or fancy, but they are the perfect everyday sunglasses to wear. You can find the sunglasses here.
Favorite Summer PJ’s? I don’t really wear PJ’s, just a t-shirt or tee and shorts.
Do You Wear White After Labor Day? Not really, I don’t think about it I guess.
Favorite Summer Fashion Trend Right Now? Coming from a chick that wears tanks and shorts every day, I don’t really care about trends. I’ll never be a fashionista!
Happy What’s Up Wednesday! On the last Wednesday of every month, Shay and Sheaffer host a link up party of what’s going on with you right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post. I thought it would be fun to join along!
Chicken, steak, pizza, burgers, and Cane’s chicken.
Loving how Huxley puts on a big ole smile when I take his picture. Loving crossing off items on our summer bucket list. Loving surprising Hadley with her favorite Starbucks drink. Loving getting my hair done. Loving all the sport camps Hadley did this summer. Loving the permanent bracelets. Loving taking a long walk at the lake. Loving that I got to see my out of town cousin at the lake. Loving how Huxley fell asleep on the gator. Loving how happy Hadley is at the lake. Loving all the pool time. Loving how excited the kids get visiting Kevin at the firehouse.
Swim team season came to an end this month, lots of pool time and eating dinner at the pool, girls’ night at the Cabana, impromptu movie night with Hadley, a trip to the zoo, a one-day volleyball camp for Hadley, grilled out at the pool with Hadleys friends, won the pool league volleyball tournament, trip to the lake, and a swim team banquet coming up.
Summer is coming to an end.
Planning for our vacation to Florida, and back to school stuff.
Going to Florida, and seeing how Huxley reacts to the beach!
I know I’m late to the game, but I’ve been binge watching Vanderpump Rules, and I love it! That’s about all I’ve really been watching on and off.
Lots and lots of shorts and tees/tanks! I don’t really wear much of anything else. On the fourth of July, I wore a red skort and a blue flag tank. Comfy cozy is what I’m about!
Going to the beach, Hadley going back to school and getting back into more of a routine. And all the sports to start back up with school!
Recapping our week on the blog! Walks, school supply shopping, the zoo, pool grill out, and volleyball champs!
Monday July 17 Early morning walk with the little man, played outside a little bit, and then went school shopping for Hadley. We bought the majority of the supplies at Kroger, and they were so cheap! She found the bookbag and water bottle at Kohls, and I found a sale online at Pottery Barn for the lunch box! After dinner, Hadley played outside with the neighbors.
Tuesday July 18 Went to the zoo with a friend and her kiddos! It was a first time for Hadley feeding the giraffes! It was a fun day. Later on in the afternoon, we went to the pool with Kevin after he woke up. The water felt amazing!
Wednesday July 19 Early morning walk with Huxley. I’ve been doing an okay job drinking water out of my Stanley cup, I could drink a tad more everyday but at least I’m drinking! Hadley got out some of her baby dolls to play with this week, and Huxley was smitten by them. He wanted to hold them, and kept touching their eye balls haha
Thursday July 20 Early morning walk yay! After Huxley went to bed, Hadley and I sat outside for a little bit and one of the clouds looked like cotton candy.
Friday July 21 Hadley had another volleyball camp in the morning at a local high school. She’s learning a lot this summer! Ordered a long sleeve rash guard for Hadley for the beach, it fits her so good! Went to the pool late in the afternoon and met up with some of Hadley’s friends for a grill out. It’s fun to have dinner at the pool, it’s so relaxed and chill.
Saturday July 22 Kevin has been needing a new phone, like really bad, so we went to the phone store and we both ended up getting new phones. And we got Hadley a smart watch! I plan to do a more in-depth post about it later after she has worn it for a while. She is beyond happy to have it!
Sunday July 23 We’ve been seeing lots of deer on our walks lately, they are all over our neighborhood. Kevin washed his truck and my car. Love a good hand washed car. And then we headed to our volleyball tournament up at the pool! We knew it was going to be a semi-long day, but we had no anticipation of winning the whole thing! We joined this league not knowing anyone, and now we know a few more people! It was fun. And poor Hadley, she was such a trooper and watched Huxley for like five hours. We had a few breaks in between games, so we let Hadley go swim while we put Huxley in the baby pool to cool him off. He did pretty good overall, and all the parents were so helpful with him and Hadley while Kevin and I played.
Happy Monday everyone, have a great week! And as always, thanks for reading!
Hi friends! Happy Friday! Here are the favorites this week.
LITTLE BEACH BUM SHIRT A cute little shirt for kids to wear for the beach! I can see Huxley wearing this with a little hat on backwards. Shirt can be found here.
BIRKENSTOCK BIG BUCKLE SLIDE SANDAL These sandals are super cute, but I cannot justify paying that much for them! Sandals can be found here.
ROUND ICE CUBE TRAY I love these type of ice cubes, and it would be fun to have these in the freezer. Tray can be found here.
MONOPOLY FOR ANTHROPOLOGIE The prettiest monopoly board I ever did see. Super pricey, but oh so pretty! Board can be found here.
ADULT SUMMER LOUNGE SET How cute are these jammies? They look so soft and comfy, and how perfect for summer! Pajamas can be found here.
Happy Friday everyone, have a great weekend! And as always, thanks for reading!

We are taking a beach vacation in a few weeks, and I’ve been counting down the days until we leave. I’ve been craving the beach so bad this year! The fresh ocean air, the sand in between my toes, and the salt water of the ocean. I just love it.
I’ve been browsing for things to bring and pack for our trip, searching for car toys for the one-year-old, new attire for the eight-year-old, and tons of essentials for the beach! These beach vacation must haves are sitting in my cart or are on their way to my house. First up, clothes and accessories for Mom! Check them out below!
Click on the title of each item to be directed to the link!
1. Swimsuit. I am large chested, so I have always had to have a halter swimsuit that ties to hold the girls up. But when I tried this swimsuit, I loved it! Even though it’s not a halter, it holds me up pretty good. And I love the bottom skort too. It fits so good!
2. Swimsuit Coverup. A friend had this coverup at the pool, and it looked so cute on her! I asked her to send me the link and I bought it. It’s the cutest cover up! It’s see through a little bit, but it’s flowy and very light. I love it!
3. Goodr Sunglasses. Obsessed with these sunglasses, they are awesome. I want to get another pair I love them so much.
4. Sorel Gym Shoes. I’ve never tried this brand of shoe before, but I ordered them, and they are oh so pretty! Going to bring them on vacation!
5. Notched Neck Tiered Dress. I’m excited to bring some new dresses on vacation, and this one looks so fun and festive for summer!
6. Adidas Tank Top. This tank top is one of my favorites, it fits so good and is very breathable to wear during my walks.
7. Calvin Klein Shorts. These shorts are one of my most favorite shorts, the color I have is Logo Line Black Deboss. I wear them so much and they are so comfy!
8. Adidas Slides. I’ve always worn adidas slides since high school, and I love to check out new ones every few years or so. I’ve been wearing these this summer and they are comfy!
Recapping our week on the blog! Walks and more walks, swim team finals, yogurt pops, the sprinkler, firehouse, volleyball game, and more!
Monday July 10 Early morning walk with the little man, and we saw some deer running across the street. We stayed home the rest of the day, resting up for the swim finals that night. In recreation swimming, they have A and B finals. If you can take a guess, A finals is the faster swimmers than B finals. Hadley made the B finals, but she was super stoked she made any finals. It was a fun meet! We don’t know her final time yet, but I think she got first in backstroke again. Back is her stroke so far!
Tuesday July 11 Walk in the morning, and then eggs and toast for breakfast for Huxley. In the afternoon, we brought out the sprinkler and the kids cooled off. The grass gets watered, and the kids have fun at the same time. We could go to the pool every day, but some days it’s nice to just stay home. Going to the pool with little ones is a lot of work sometimes!
Wednesday July 12 Saw wild turkeys on our morning walk. We have super random wildlife out here in the ‘burbs! Watered the flowers like we tend to do about every other day or so. I met up with some moms from Hadley’s school for happy hour / dinner. We went to a place that is right on the river, it was so nice. I could live by any body of water almost. It’s very relaxing. Nice to catch up and hangout with just the girls.
Thursday July 13 Walked at the trail solo, I did the entire trail and sang my hype songs out loud to myself! It felt amazing. Came home, Huxley took his first nap, and we headed to the pool! It was not very crowded at all, and the water felt amazing. Hadley always runs into at least one friend when we are there, and she has the best time.
Friday July 14 Morning walk with Huxley, stopped at Kroger to get some things for the house. I tried these skinny-dipped cashews for an impromptu movie night with Hadley and they were good! Almost every afternoon, both Hadley and Huxley will have a yogurt pop. We strip Huxley down to his diaper because he takes forever to eat the yogurt pops, and it drips all over himself. So, eating them outside is the easiest way for him. Then the kids ran through the sprinkler, it’s been hot! Kevin was driving the engine, and he just loves it! For an impromptu movie night, meaning no signage / decor or themed snacks, we watched The Rookie of the Year, an oldie, but figured Hadley would love it because it’s about baseball.
Saturday July 15 Walked in the morning with Huxley. Hadley had a yogurt tube for breakfast and ended up squirting it on her face! It was so funny, she belly laughed out loud! Kevin was on overtime at a different house, so we went to visit him! They have five turtles they feed on a daily basis, and you can see the planes fly in and out, the kids loved it!
Sunday July 16 Walked in the morning, had a volleyball game in the afternoon that I went to with just the kids and I. Hadley basically watched Huxley for an hour, and she is just amazing at being a big sister. Huxley stayed in the wagon the entire time, she squirted him with her water gun, we brought his favorite yogurt pops that managed to stay frozen in a lunch box with lots of ice packs, and lots of snacks. We won two out of three games! After the volleyball game, we went to the pool for a little bit. Once I get to the pool it’s fine, it’s just lugging all the stuff there is what’s hard some days. After the pool, we went home to eat dinner and by this time Kevin was home from work. He and Huxley went to bed, and Hadley and I went out for ice cream as part of a huge thank you for how awesome she is at watching her little brother. Plus it was part of our summer bucket list!
Happy Tuesday everyone, have a great week! And as always, thanks for reading!
