Recapping the week on the blog! Grass cutting, softball, lots of overtime, and a birthday dinner.
Monday May 13
Started the week with a YouTube workout! Kevin dived into the backyard jungle, it hasn’t been mowed since last year and it has grown a tad high. There are a ton of sticks back there, so they had to be picked up. Huxley grabbed his little mower and went right along with his dad. It’s so cute to watch Huxley follow his dad around as he cuts the grass. Later on in the afternoon, our neighbor Bill mowed his grass and Huxley sat on the electrical box just watching him. Poor Hadley got home from school with a terrible earache, she was in tears. Thankfully her amazing teacher emailed me a heads up before school was out, so I made a doctor’s appointment and got her in. Kevin took her to the doctor, turns out she had a huge ball of wax the size of a small rock that was making her ear hurt. It took three times to flush it out of her ear, and she felt better almost instantly. She still had to do some ear drops, and the doctor recommended she take some allergy meds to see if that helps. Poor thing has had a rough April/May! After dinner, Hadley took a shower and then started her homework before bedtime.

Tuesday May 14
Another YouTube workout, while Huxley and Kevin sat on the couch. Kevin ended up getting called in to the firehouse for OT. Homework after school. Softball was cancelled because of the rain. Swim team signups were this night, so we headed there while it sprinkled. Huxley was obsessed with the pool; he would’ve jumped in if I would’ve let him. Hadley tried on the new swimsuit for this year, and then we left. Huxley is going to be a handful at anything we do this summer!

Wednesday May 15
After morning drop off to school, did a YouTube workout. It was my last time to work lunch duty at Hadley’s school. Huxley is in heaven there but gets crazy as you can imagine a two-year-old with a cafeteria full of loud kids! After dinner, Hadley had a softball game at 6:30pm in which I had to bring Huxley solo. You would think I would be a pro at this by now, but I am not there yet. Huxley is a wild man! All he wants to do is run everywhere but where you want him to be. At the game, the girls on Hadley’s team were pretty good with him and every time they were at bat, they would give him high fives and try to give him hugs which entertained him for a little bit. The game lasted until 8:30pm! Huxley goes to bed around 7:30/8pm. It was a late night for him, and I was pooped. Hadley lost 6-5! We saw an old neighbor we used to live by at our first house, and it was so cute to see Hadley and her catch up like two teenagers.

Thursday May 16
YouTube workout in the morning. Kevin had a mulch job with a firefighter friend after the firehouse. He didn’t get home until after lunch. Hadley had softball practice, and she practices at the farthest field away! It was like a short jog haha

Friday May 17
Field day Friday for Miss Hadley! The forecast called for rain all day, but luckily, they got to have field day activities! Hadley had her last league games for her select team. First game at 6pm, second game at 8:40pm. Huxley and I managed to survive the first game, barely. He is something else lately, definitely in the terrible two phase. Kevin got off of his part time fire job and came for the second game. We let Huxley play on the playground for a little bit, then he and I headed home.

Saturday May 18
Morning YouTube workout! And then another solo softball game with Huxley. This game wasn’t as bad, I came with some things. A spray bottle of water, some water toys, a bucket to spray the water in, his wagon, and his scooter. We ended up going to the van the last 40 minutes of the game, I could still see Hadley play from up top of the hill. After dinner, we met Kevin at a local creamy whip for ice cream. He met us there in the fire engine. Huxley is obsessed. He jumps up and down and screams and gets super excited. The kids ate some ice cream with the other fireman, and Huxley was in and out of the engine many times. We got home, put Huxley to bed. And then Hadley and I had a quick movie night. We got through half of the movie since it was late, Hadley is usually exhausted by Friday night. Five minutes before midnight, I hit 10,000 steps!

Sunday May 19
Huxley and I took a walk around the neighborhood, while Hadley slept in. Kevin was on OT again. After our walk, we went to a local playground before it got too hot. And then we met my parents for dinner to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. Huxley was a terror! He screamed, and barely ate the entire dinner. After dinner we went to a park and let the kids play.

I thought you were going to say ear infection at first with Hadley and I immediately thought that poor kiddo has had a rough spring; I am so glad it was an easy fix with the ear wax but she’s definitely earned a nice long healthy stretch of time! It sounds like a busy week. I remember those days of trying to keep the littler ones occupied while the older one played– it was rough and so tiring.
So much fun and I always love seeing Huxley follow Daddy around outside “doing yard work”- so precious!
