Share Our Lives: Finding Peace In Your Day.

Hi friends! I’m joining Joanne at Slices of Life for the Share Our Lives link up. This month we’re sharing finding peace in your day. These are a few things that I try to do daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, etc.!

  1. Let go of what others think of you.
The older I get, the more and more I do not care what anyone else thinks of me. Well, maybe my husband and kids, but that’s pretty much it. Life is so so short to worry or even care about what anyone thinks of you. I have learned to let all of that go, and it’s so freeing.
  2. Cut out toxic things from your life.
Love this one. Anything toxic in your life, remove it. Immediately. And if you can’t remove it completely, then be super aware of the toxicity of the things that it or that person causes. And don’t let it disrupt your life. You have to be strong enough, internally, for yourself, and power through it.
  3. Relax, sit in silence.
Sometimes I sit on the couch or lay in my bed, with no tv on, no phone on, nothing. No sounds, (well…except the creaking of your house haha), but no loud noise on, can be very therapeutic.
  4. Think positively in all situations.
I have been doing this so much since I became a SAHM. Transform negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Try to highlight the positive aspects of the situation. I try to think confidently about everything, and every situation I’m in. Positive thinking isn’t really about burying every negative thought or emotion you have or avoiding difficult feelings.
  5. Offer kind gestures to strangers.
Small things like saying hello to everyone you pass on the walking trail (and be okay with some people not responding!), give a compliment to a stranger, hold the elevator door or any door, bake cookies for a neighbor, leave a positive review on a place you went to.
  6. Do something that fills you with joy.
I love going to the walking trail alone and blaring my music super loud! I don’t really enjoy doing laundry, but I do enjoy the fresh clean smell of it. Climbing into a fresh made bed. Family dinners around the table. Listening to rap music in the car when I’m childless. Watering the flowers.
  7. Create & stick to a morning routine.
I pretty much do the same thing almost every morning, and having a routine is such a great feeling to know what to expect and do everyday. It gives me a sense of relief to know what works for me, and how to get my day started.
  8. Move your body.
I have been moving by body for a few years now, I try to do some form of exercise at least 5 out of the 7 days of the week. I love to do YouTube workouts and walk outside. If I don’t do either of those things, I try and do some form of movement whether it be cutting the grass, clean the house, yard work, etc. As long as it’s moving my body somehow, I’m choosing to move!
  9. Keep spaces organized.
If the house is a mess, my mind is a mess. Before I go to bed at night, I try and do what I call a “putting the house to bed” routine. I do the dishes, wipe down the counters and table, clean up Huxley’s toys, clear off things, etc. When I wake up in the morning, I make my bed everyday. Walking into our bedroom with a made bed is much better than seeing a messy ass bed! Things like that!
  10. Find people who lift you up.
This one is super hard for me. I feel like I am the one that lifts people up, and not many lift me up. Simple things like how are you doing? And actually listen to how I’m doing. Or you are doing a great job! Or how was your vacation? Just simple questions or thoughts one can ask a person. I make a point to ask people about what is going on in their lives, or tell someone they look nice, or I love their earrings, etc. So this one is really hard, but it is important to find those people that lift you up in life!

  1. Yes, yes, yes! Especially stopping caring what others think of you… I learned that one several years ago and it has made a huge difference.

  2. This is all such fantastic advice!
It is the 2nd time today I have read about sitting in silence, I don’t know why I haven’t thought of it before. I do need to try that.

  3. These are all wonderful suggestions, and things that I try to do for myself as well. I have trouble keeping things organized so that one is a challenge for me, BUT I’ve learned more and more that having my surroundings uncluttered and orderly plays a much bigger role than I would have guessed in helping me feel at home and at peace. So that’s something I’ve been focusing on more lately. Have a peaceful week!

  4. This is a great list! I never really thought about it –but love a routine..especially in the morning…and I do think that helps me start the day in a more peaceful way. Thanks for linking up with us.
