Brown County 2024.

We went to Brown County, Indiana this past weekend with my family. My mom, aunts, and cousins have been taking this trip for over twenty years now. It’s a small little town about two hours from Cincy. We get an Airbnb that has a kitchen, living area, and lots of bedrooms for all of us!

Here are the details of the trip!

FRIDAY
We had reservations for lunch at Hard Truth Distilling Co, it’s a fun atmosphere to hangout at. My aunt Chris pre-ordered four cases of her favorite beer! It was hilarious having the guy wheel out her big boxes. For some reason, the bees there are everywhere! Three of them flew into my mom’s drink immediately. So crazy, so she pitched her drink.

After lunch, we came back to the house and I started decorating. Each year, we have a theme for our wine bottles. We decorate wine, and we do a taste testing event. I came up with a rainbow theme, and it was so fun! My cousin Lauren helped me do the balloon arch, and taught me how to do them! Since the past year, in all the planning of the trip, I acted as a travel agent to everyone and I gave myself a name of “MM Travel”. For my first name Mandy, and last name begins with an m also. As a little goodie hostess gift, I got everyone a mini lotion, hand sanitizer, and rainbow candy in the colors, as a little welcome gift on everyone’s bed.

We ordered takeout for dinner, and ate at the house. After dinner, I had a surprise game for everyone! I had my mom help me. We played Family Feud, I was Mandy Harvey, and my mom was my assistant Gail Harvey! My mom found these bald wigs and mustaches for us to wear to look like Steve Harvey! I made numbers for the answers, and had questions. I even had buzzers for them to buzz with! The winning team had a few fun prizes, and a matchbox version of a brand new Range Rover! It was hilarious!!!

My sweet aunt Linda sleeps like she’s dead lmao! She said “I’m going to the bathroom” and never came back hah!

SATURDAY
Saturday we shopped around town! My mom and I did a small wine tasting, mainly my mom since I’m not a huge wine fan. I tried the cider, it was good! My favorite cider was the cranberry. The town is so cute, and we had the best weather.

Saturday night dinner, I had made reservations for this cute little place called Coopers Alley. The photos on their website looked adorable, and we were so excited to try this place out. We had outdoor seating at this country farm table. We ordered our drinks, and then asked about the food. It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting! The food is served family style, and you only have a choice of three options for the main course. It comes with a charcuterie board, appetizer, main course, and dessert for a whopping…..$75.00 a person! And that’s without drinks! We were all a little shell shocked, so we opted to finish our drinks and went to another place. Isn’t that crazy? It’s not on the website anywhere either! You can check it out here…Coopers Alley. Don’t get me wrong, the place looks absolutely charming and adorable, but not for $75 a person!

After a very long dinner, we headed back to the house to do the rainbow wine tasting! I gave everyone the option to dress in their color also. We had fun with it! Each person got a personalized wine cup with their name on it, mini solo cups in their color to taste the wine, and some rainbow candies. My aunt Amy gave us all bags with our initials on it in our color, we could decorate it if we wanted too! No rules!

We did the color of the rainbow, plus an additional color since my cousin Lauren came at the last minute. Red, salmon, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink!

After we scored on the best decorated wine bottle, we tasted the wine! I made individual score cards for everyone. My cousin Emma won best wine, even though hers wasn’t wine because she’s pregnant! The worst wine was actually mine. I had best and worst wine prizes, since I can’t win a prize since I bought them haha I gave my aunt Linda who was the second worst wine the prize!

My mom made a rainbow charcuterie board! We used spam for the color salmon, so friggin funny!

Everyone gave me a little trophy that said “Top Travel Agent of the Year”! It was so cute and funny!

SUNDAY
We went to brunch Sunday morning, it was pretty good breakfast! I got the traditional eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast. I did order a double mimosa which was super strong for me! I’m not sure why, but maybe it’s because I haven’t had orange juice in forever and I usually fast until lunch? I don’t know, but I just had water. My mom and aunt Linda got a giant bloody mary, I mean look at how big it was!

HOUSE
Here is the cute little house we stayed at! My mom and I stayed upstairs, we had our own bathroom but did have to go downstairs to shower. The other two bedrooms each have showers. It’s such a cute place!

Something I found on Instagram, was this supportive pickle! Read the little card I made, but it was awesome. I made each person their own “pickle token” and they could whip it out at anytime they needed to use it! Two people did use it throughout the weekend!

We had a great time! I haven’t been on this trip in two years or so, and it was nice to be able to go this year! Some of the heads are cut off, but it’s a cute sticker of us all! Until next time ladies…signing off as your travel agent!
