Recapping the week on the blog today. Winterfest, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Nashville! Linking up with Holly and Sarah! Here is the recap…
Monday December 30
Went to Winterfest at Kings Island, with my parents and my brother’s family. Kevin stayed home with Huxley, I knew it’d be a late night and it was a farther drive from our house. I hadn’t been to Kings Island in twenty plus years. They had a giant Christmas tree as you walked in, it was so pretty! I rode one ride with Hadley and my nephew Kaiden. Walked around and saw some pretty lights. We ate dinner. It was fun!

Tuesday December 31
Was off work for New Year’s Eve! Started the day with a workout. Huxley wearing his slippers he got for Christmas from my parents cracked me up. My Aunt Cindy had Christmas quilts made for the kids and they were so cute! Hadley’s was blue, her favorite color, and had reindeers on it. Huxley’s was a train with Santa! They both loved them! Before we ate dinner, we made our traditional New Year’s Eve cake. All it is, is a regular cake with a quarter baked in it. Whoever gets the quarter piece, gets good luck the next year! We ate dinner by the Christmas tree one last time. I couldn’t get the grill to start, so I made our steaks in the cast iron skillet and it didn’t work out too well. The steaks were really dry. Hadley’s request for drinks was a Shirley Temple! We all picked out a treat for the night. I picked out yogurt covered almonds, Hadley picked out Reese’s, and Huxley picked out mini Oreo’s. After dinner, we ate the cake and Huxley got the quarter piece. Huxley went to bed early. And Hadley went to bed around 10pm.

Wednesday January 1
Happy New Year! Started the day with going to Dunkin Donuts and getting some breakfast for the kids. My workout for the day consisted of taking down all the Christmas decor, including the Christmas tree all by myself! Fitting the Christmas tree into the box it came in is always a task, especially by myself but I did it and I was so proud of myself. I rearranged the storage closet, and everything fit nicely! I made a new Instagram graphic for my workouts! I like how I can put what my workout was, and the length of time it was.

Thursday January 2
First day of work for the new year. It’s still so weird going to work when the kids aren’t at school. The halls are super quiet and creepy! Hung my new dollar store calendar at work, it’s a beach calendar!

Friday January 3
Kevin and I took a trip to Nashville for the weekend. It was one of those things where Kevin had to take a day off or he’d lose it. So it worked out that it was a Saturday. We left Friday after I got off work, and drove down. It took us about four hours. We checked into our hotel, which had a bluetooth mirror in the bathroom! I was so obsessed with it I looked one up online and depending on which one you get they aren’t that expensive! After we got settled, we ventured out to the city. It was so much fun!

Saturday January 4
We ate breakfast at our hotel cafe, we both got a egg and cheese croissant. I got a chai tea latte, every place has different tasting chai but it was pretty good. Meanwhile, the kids were having a blast at my parents house! My parents would send us pictures of the kids every now and then. After breakfast, we went to eat lunch at Luke Bryan’s restaurant. While we were out walking around, Kevin bought a cowboy hat and a new vest. He wore it out when we went out at night. Doesn’t he look so cute? Like Kevin Costner in Yellowstone cute? I was obsessed. It’s my new favorite thing he wears. Our hotel lobby had the cutest Christmas lights set up as you walked in. It was the cutest hotel, we really liked it!

Sunday January 5
We left bright and early Sunday morning to try and beat all the snow. Well, mother nature had other plans. We drove right through the middle of it! From Nashville, to Cincinnati usually takes about four hours driving time. With all the snow, it took us a whopping eight and a half hours! I posted hourly updates on my Instagram, it was insane how long it took us. We saw so many wrecks we lost count! I’m just glad we made it home safely, even if it took us double the time. My parents gladly kept the kids one more night, because the roads were just dicey. The snow is so pretty don’t get me wrong, but driving home in the middle of it all falling down? Not fun.

Well other than that awful ride home it wounds like a really wonderful week. You all have had so much fun! I don’t think we did anything at all between coming home on the 29th and sending Alec off to college on the 5th.
It was a nice short getaway!
Your Christmas fun and Nashville trip look fun. We go to Nashville every few years, and I love it. We have friends who live there, so it’s fun to visit them and go to Broadway.
Nashville is fun! Sometimes a little too much fun haha
Happy New Year! Looks like an amazing trip despite the long ride home 🙂
Will never forget that trip!
