Wednesday Hodgepodge.

I’m joining Joyce for this week’s Wednesday Hodgepodge! Each week she posts questions to answer and share with others. It’s a fun little prompt, and I am glad to be participating.

1. Are you more life of the party or more party pooper? If your answer is somewhere in the middle which side of the middle do you lean towards more?  Probably somewhere in the middle, and more life of the party side.

Birthday party, beach party, cocktail party, dinner party, charity fundraiser, surprise party, costume party, garden party, Christmas party, reunion…what’s your favorite kind of party? My favorite kind of party is a birthday party, or a Christmas party. I love birthdays and Christmas so those are the two I would pick!

2.  Cheese, wine, and balsamic vinegar all improve with age. What would you personally add to the list? My first thought was some type of whiskey, but I don’t like whiskey. So, then I thought some more about it, and came up with my favorite chai tea! Tea gets better with age, right? I don’t know, just totally guessing!

3.  How do you feel about your birthday? How do you want to be celebrated? Or don’t you? I love my birthday! I am not the type to get sad as I turn another year older. I’ve always said I’m glad to be alive and living! We all get older, it’s inevitable, so just embrace it! I like my husband and kids to pick out a card and a gift, make dinner, and have something sweet for dessert. Birthday is one day a year that is all for yourself!

4.  What remarkable feat, interesting piece of trivia, or historical event occurred on your birth day and month? Not necessarily your same birth year, just the same date/month. My birthday is March 3rd, and on March 3rd, 1931, the Star-Spangled Banner was officially made the U.S national anthem! Very fitting for the past recent events that have been going on…U.S.A.!!!

5.  Share two good things about your life right now.
1 – I’m getting my hair highlighted tonight and I cannot wait for it. When my daughter said the other day, “Mom I can see gray hairs” you know it’s a little overdue.
2 – Going out of town this weekend, just Hadley and I, for her softball tournament.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  I hope the next few weeks are better than the last week. I’m really sick of social media. I just want to see happy uplifting news and stories!

  1. I do love a Christmas party, they are a lot of fun and there’s the excitement of Christmas.
I always get emotional hearing the Star-Spangled Banner being sung and I am not even American, there is something beautiful about it!

  2. I just had my hair appointment yesterday and there are few things that make me feel better about myself than that. Enjoy your weekend away, that one on one time is special. I am trying to spend more time outside than on social media these days. It’s kind of a cesspool and makes me despair for humanity a little. My hubs and I are reading through the Bible this year and it helps bring my focus back to God’s sovereignty over this tired troubled earth. He is always working, no matter how dark the world may feel. Have a great day!

  3. Yes, it is fun to have one day a year for ourselves. I’m with you on saying hooray for the Red, White and Blue. I love a good National Anthem sing along! Enjoy your hair pampering!

  4. I love your attitude about birthdays…embracing another year and being thankful for life is such a refreshing perspective. A birthday dinner with family, cake, and sweet cards sounds just perfect. And how neat that your birthday lines up with the Star-Spangled Banner becoming our national anthem — what a fun bit of history to share!

I hope you love your fresh highlights (always such a mood booster!) and that you and Hadley have the best time at her softball tournament this weekend. Here’s to brighter weeks ahead!
