Today I am 47.
Only three more years of being in my forties ahhh!!! I don’t really get depressed about turning another year older, it’s inevitable so why worry about it? Just live life. But the fifties for some reason, have me a little like woah.
I am going to share 47 random facts about myself this year for my birthday! Let’s see if I can come up with actually 47 different things about myself!
Let’s go…

1. I measure time in 24-hour shifts.
2. I sleep lighter when Kevin is on duty.
3. Firehouse chili critiques are real.
4. The hardest part of being a fire wife is doing a lot of things alone.
5. Travel softball snacks are a personality trait.
6. Sitting in a camping chair for hours has taught me patience.
7. Sitting in a camping chair for hours with Huxley has taught me a LOT of patience.
8. My favorite tournament memory so far is watching Hadley hit a winning two-run double.
9. My favorite snack for tournaments is mixed nuts.
10. I feel so proud to watch Hadley do what she loves.
11. I’m raising one confident little girl.
12. Forever will love a paper planner.
13. I color code the family in my planner.
14. Friday Favorites makes me absurdly happy.
15. I love designing paper products more than I love watching TV.
16. I wish I could figure out how to monetize this blog!
17. I love blogging so much.
18. I will always choose a cozy sweatshirt over a dress.
19. I’m turning 47 and still figuring things out.
20. I love a good “reset Sunday.”
21. I want to lose some pounds, but also love chocolate deeply.
22. Learning how to unlearn relying on others for validation.
23. I’m proud of the mom I am.
24. I’m learning that not everyone likes HR lol.
25. You can’t always trust everyone you work with.
26. I wish every employee understood that I’m not your typical HR person.
27. My favorite part of new hire orientation is meeting the new folks that I will be working with.
28. I no longer stress at work if everyone likes me or not, it’s part of the job.
29. A professional goal I still have at 47 is to become a graphic designer for Disney. It’s always been my dream job. It might not come true, but I can still dream!
30. Huxley has taught me that the second child has a mind of his own.
31. I wish I could bottle up the moment Huxley said, “Mom, I love you.” in the car on the way home from school.
32. I always wash comforters that say dry clean only.
33. I will handwash cups that say handwash though lol.
34. Anytime an ambulance passes by with lights and sirens on, I turn the radio off and say to myself “I hope they are okay.”
35. I can’t stand when grown adults need more attention than their kids do.
36. I don’t care about an itinerary while on vacation.
37. Travel brings out the spontaneity in myself.
38. In everyday life I like to have a plan.
39. A habit I’m proud I’ve kept is trying to move my body a few times a week.
40. “Home” means everyone under one roof together.
41. I’ve learned to understand who wants to be in my life is in my life.
42. A health goal I’m actively working on is to eat more protein.
43. Having health goals is hard when I love sweets.
44. I’m no longer apologizing for my bluntness. It’s who I am.
45. I’m learning how to say no more.
46. I’m saying yes to things I truly want to do.
47. I hope age 47 brings more laughter, more time with people I love, and the courage to keep growing.
