Wednesday Hodgepodge.

I’m joining Joyce for this week’s Wednesday Hodgepodge! Each week she posts questions to answer and share with others. It’s a fun little prompt, and I am glad to be participating.

1. What was the last thing you celebrated?
Independence Day at home! We had a chill day, my daughter made an Oreo cake with red/white/blue sprinkles, we made red and blue ice cubes and put them in sprite, did sparklers in the driveway, and then watched the neighborhood firework show in our back yard!

2.  July 29th is International Day of the Tiger. Besides the wild animal itself, when you hear the word tiger what’s the first  person-place-thing-whatever that comes to mind?
The Cincinnati Bengals football team! Lots of theme songs with “tiger” in the words.

3.  The expression ‘eye of the tiger’ describes someone with intense focus, determination, and the drive to succeed. What area of your life are you currently bringing that kind of energy to?
At my job, I try really hard to be successful but it is hard when working with a difficult manager. I like what I do, and try to keep that in mind on a daily basis!

4. What was the last meal you cooked?
Chicken on the skillet, brown rice, and broccoli. One of my favorite easy meals. I’m not too much of a cook, that is more my husband!

5. Describe your July using exactly five words.
Softball, courage, advocacy, resilience, hope.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Again, just happy to take the time to write this blog post. Wednesday Hodgepodge is always a fun one, I love to think about the weekly questions!

  1. I’m so glad I’m no longer working. I hear this often from my adult children and from others who haven’t yet retired, as they deal with difficult managers. I just don’t understand it. It’s like instead of “managing” they are trying to find ways to fire a worker instead.

  2. It is always great to hear people way they really enjoy their job! So many, apparently, do not. Hooray for great jobs:) And I love your answer to #5…great words! I totally should have thought of Independence Day for the first question – duh! Happy Wednesday!

  3. A difficult manager is a tough one, but I’m sure it helps to love what you do. Sounds like you had a fun 4th. We were at a wedding, which was different but fun. The bride and groom embraced the theme which was nice. Have a great day!

  4. Interesting you would write about the Bengals or Bangals. Joe was our LSU quarterback hero and I still like to follow him on Sundays. My granddaughter graduated from Xavier University so we have that tie to Cincinnati as well.
