Patriotic Decor Ideas.

When you want to feel patriotic, there is no better way than to decorate your house! Am I right? Whether you are decorating for Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day, these super simple decorating ideas are very easy!

Each year for the summer holidays, I typically start decorating either Memorial Day or July 4th weekend and keep it up until school starts, or Labor Day.

For the fireplace mantel, I’ll stick random things here and there. I have a red/white/blue candle holder that has nothing in them, use them strictly for the color scheme. A white wooden liberty sign, that I think I got at Hobby Lobby awhile back. Stick a few American flags in the fake flowers, and the USA banner taped to the mantel.

In our downstairs bathroom, the only patriotic decor I have is this Home of the Brave sign. I do have red, white, and blue hand towels somewhere just haven’t gotten those out yet.

Our little letterboard sign in the kitchen gets changed out pretty often, it’ll get changed for the next event or whatever comes up next. Whatever warrants something cool to say! haha

Patriotic towels on the oven from your local Kroger.

In the dining room bar cart, I have some plastic cups that say, “hooray USA” and “stars and stripes”. I filled them with paper straws and some patriotic taffy.

For the dining room table, all I did was put a plastic American flag tablecloth on and that’s it!

It’s very easy to decorate for holidays, with little time and on a budget. Some items I’ll save throughout the years and some things I’ll pick up when it’s on sale or a good deal. I love decorating for all the seasons!

Our July 4th Weekend.

Recapping our July 4th weekend, lots of pool time and some fireworks.

Friday July 1

Walked at my favorite trail, it was early enough in the morning where it wasn’t too terribly hot for Huxley, but I broke out a sweat for sure. Hadley was at summer camp, while we chilled at home. At night before bedtime, Hadley read Huxley a book and then we went to bed.

Saturday July 2

Huxley woke up a little earlier than normal, and didn’t go back to sleep like he usually does. So his “longer” nap happened a little later. I surprised Hadley with donuts and red/white/blue sprinkles for breakfast on our way to the zoo! We could go to the zoo every week, we love it that much. I really like getting there at 9am before it’s open to the public at 10am. By 11am / 12pm, we are about ready to go! Hadley got a henna tattoo, which was pretty cool looking. Huxley slept through his first zoo train ride. After the zoo, we visited Kevin at the firehouse. Hadley loves going there, she always gets some sort of popsicle and hanging out with Dad is always fun.

Once we got home and chilled, Huxley took a pretty good nap and then we headed to the pool after dinner! There were maybe 10 people there total, it was awesome.

Sunday July 3

Worked out in the morning before Huxley woke back up and made patriotic cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Made a fun little scavenger hunt for Hadley, she just loves these so much! They are so easy to do, just look on Pinterest for some free printable ones, and then get some small cheap goodies for the beginning and end, and you have one happy kiddo. To start off the scavenger hunt, she had tattoos, and then at the end was fireworks, and taffy. Super simple, and so fun for Hadley!

I started wearing the baby carrier for Huxley when I watered the flowers and did some laundry. He’s getting heavier, but it was still much easier to do things this way than actually holding him. Earth shattering news I now, sometimes it takes me a little longer to figure things out haha

After dinner, we did the fireworks that I felt safe doing on my own. We left the fireworks that looked a little more involved for Kevin. We plan to do those this week when he’s home for a night. The weather was awesome, not too humid, and a nice breeze.

Monday July 4

Starting off our fourth by having swim team practice. Sounds weird right? But we went, and she had fun like always. After swim practice, went home to get ready and headed over to a friend’s house for a pool party! We normally go to the lake for this weekend, but with Kevin having to work a lot we decided to stay home this year. It was a little different, but still had fun! So anyways, it was fun hanging out at the pool. Huxley was amazing as always; he fell asleep while my friend held him and then once he woke up was so good the rest of the time. Hadley was in heaven, if she’s by any body of water she’s happy as can be!

Hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend! Back to the grind.

Friday favorites.

Happy July 1st! Just love the start of a new month! Here are a few favorites I’m loving from this week! Are you ready for the holiday weekend, and the hot weather?

Every time we go to the lake, Kevin makes the best bacon egg and cheese sandwiches for breakfast. Sometimes it’ll be on a bagel, or toast, and the way the cheese just melts is so good. And he makes the best eggs!

I cannot find a link to this life jacket, since it’s super super old. It’s been at the lake for many years, probably at least 17 or 18 years. Anyways, Huxley loved the life jacket! Most babies hate this thing when they are little, and I don’t blame them because look at it? Doesn’t it look miserable? Well, not to my little Huxley. He loved it, smiled the entire time he had it on.

Now that we have a pool membership, I bought this little floatie for Huxley. We used it for the first time this week, and he loved it! Took him a minute to relax, since he’s laid back, but he did like it. Float linked here.

This baby tent was another purchase for the pool, and we also used it for the first time this week. He slept about an hour in this thing! We stripped him down to his diaper, put the portable stroller fan and travel sound machine inside, and he was out. It was amazing! This would be great at the beach too, if you have a little one. Tent linked here.

We use this sound machine for Huxley for bedtime, and it’s amazing. I love it so much I want one for myself! You can choose the color for the nightlight, you can choose the sound, and can also choose the volume level. We even take it with us when we go to the lake for the weekends and use it there. Babies like routine, so I like to keep the bedtime routine pretty much the same as we do at home. Sound machine linked here. (Bonus – $10 off coupon on Amazon).

Happy weekend everyone!
