Weekly recap.

Recapping our week on the blog! Christmas Day, toys galore, Festival of Lights, and New Year’s Eve!

Monday December 25
Merry Christmas day! Snitch our elf left the kids elf sized notes as he left for the year. Kevin had to work at the firehouse today, so we were solo most of the day until after dinner. Santa brought Huxley a digger toy, and he’s been loving it. I loved our Christmas card this year! Huxley and I sat on the front porch step and breathed in some fresh air. After feeling under the weather for a few days, fresh air felt amazing, even if it was cold.

Tuesday December 26
The day after Christmas, and they kids are playing with their new toys hard core. Huxley got this play sink that has running water, it keeps recycling the water through the faucet. They must’ve played with this for almost two hours this day. We put his little apron on, which is Hadleys old one which is why it’s pink! Hadley played with Huxley so much during her Christmas break from school. He loves playing with her! For dinner, we made one of our favorite meals chicken in tomato sauce with pasta. Recipe can be found here.

Wednesday December 27
Hadley has been playing with Huxley’s toys, almost more than he has! The drum set has been a fun toy, it’s not as loud as you would think. It’s super small, and so cute. When Huxley took a nap, Hadley asked to play with the play sink so she could have it all to herself. She was in heaven. After she played with the play sink, she wanted to do math on the computer! God love that girl. So, while she was on the computer, I started writing out the calendar for 2024. Finally starting to feel better, and not wanting to lay down all the time. I snapped a photo of our tree, to remember all of the missing bare ornaments on the bottom. Huxley can’t keep his little paws off of the ornaments!

Thursday December 28
Hadley wanted some fresh air, so she walked to the mailbox and checked the mail. We made a trip to Once Upon a Child to donate a bunch of Huxley’s clothes he’s outgrown and managed to get a Nike sweatshirt and pants for Hadley. After nap time, I did some laundry and Huxley loves to play in the basement. Bath time he likes to splash a ton now, so I close the sliding glass door and let him go to town. His bath robe is a crack up! He loves putting that on after his baths lately. After Huxley went to bed, Hadley and I played one of her new games she got for Christmas. The game is called, Allowance. It’s like Monopoly, and teaches kids how to do money and give change, and all that. It actually goes a lot quicker than Monopoly!

Friday December 29
Huxley is in a research study, where they are studying the flu vaccine in kids. The only bad thing we have to do for this study is when Huxley has a blood draw. It’s gotten harder as he gets older and knows what’s going on, poor guy had to get stuck in both arms this time because they couldn’t get enough blood from the first arm. He was not a happy camper, so we went to visit Dad at the firehouse afterwards since it’s super close by. Hadley went with a friend to go roller-skating. She was happy to get out of the house without her brother and me. But she came home all ready to play with Huxley again, she is just the best. I display our Christmas cards on our basement door, I love having them all displayed in the kitchen where we can look at them every day!

Saturday December 30
Hadley read a book her first week of Christmas break, we are just so proud of her and her reading. She’s a rockstar at it. After dinner, we went to the zoo for the Festival of Lights with our cousins. It was cold and crowded. We usually go before Christmas, but this year we couldn’t until after and it was still packed.

Sunday December 31
Happy New Year’s Eve! We went over to a friend’s house to celebrate! It was so nice, all the kids had fun playing together, and they loved the theater room. They were in and out of the room all night, up and down on the chairs. Huxley gets scared of their dog at first, but always warms up to him after a little while. It was a nice calm chill New Year’s Eve!

Happy New Year everyone, have a great week! And as always, thanks for reading!

  1. It looks like a fabulous week! I always found that my boys loved anything that involved water play and I didn’t mind the “mess” since it was nice and easy to clean up. That family photo in front of the fireplace is wonderful.
