Weekly Recap.

Recapping the week on the blog! Summer week 2, softball camp, swim team, pool time, and a picnic!

Monday June 3
Started the week with taking Hadley to her first camp of the summer! Softball camp for a local high school. She was a little nervous because she wasn’t sure if she would know anyone. But that has never stopped her before, she just wants to play ball. She ended up knowing like four girls and met some new friends. After we dropped her off at softball camp, we walked at the trail by our house with Huxley. Softball camp ended at 3pm, so we packed up the van for the pool, packed Hadley a bag, and after we picked her up at 3, we headed straight to the pool. After Huxley went to bed, we stayed up a little later and watched the girls college softball world series.

Tuesday June 4
Day two of softball camp. After we dropped her off, Huxley and I took a walk around the neighborhood and saw our turkey friends again! They didn’t make any loud noises or anything this time, so we were able to walk down the entire street. We picked up Hadley at softball camp, and the poor girl was out in the heat all day long without going inside to the air conditioning. So, we stopped at Graeter’s on the way home and got her a cold milkshake as a treat. She was hot! Huxley had a haircut at 5pm, he has gotten so good for his cuts. He knows he gets a sucker right before he hops in the chair, and he’s so so good! We love Mrs. Tara! Later on in the day, some of the other softball moms shared some photos from softball camp, they ate lunch outside under whatever tree had shade! Hadley had softball practice at night with her select team from 6:30-8pm, she was a trooper that day!

Wednesday June 5
Started the week with a YouTube workout! And then headed to the first swim team practice of the season. She missed Monday and Tuesday due to softball camp, but swim team is so laid back we love it. Huxley couldn’t understand why he couldn’t swim during swim team practice, he kept saying “I swim” over and over until I took him to the playground the last twenty minutes. After swim team, we headed to the library! I told Hadley she had to start reading today for the summer, twenty minutes a day during the week. She has to read one book a week and take an A/R test each week to stay on top of reading. When we arrived at the library, they were giving away free books for each age range, and a free summer checklist to keep track of things. Huxley loved playing with the kid toys in the kiddie area. After Huxley’s nap, we went to the fish store to redeem our “free festival fish” she won at our school festival. After we got another goldfish for Huxley, a tank, and all the accessories, our little free festival fish costed about $45! Hadley named her fish Nemo, and we named Huxley’s fish Beau from his middle name. After Huxley went to bed, Hadley and I watched the girls softball world series!

Thursday June 6
Kevin got home from the firehouse, and then took the kids to swim team practice. I did a quick workout after they left, and then headed to my morning hair appointment. After Huxley woke up from his nap, Hadley started getting ready for her first swim meet of the summer. She loves to write stuff on her back. Kevin and Hadley went to the swim meet early since Kevin signed up to work the grill since it was a home swim meet. Huxley and I ate at home, and then we headed to the swim meet. He was pretty good for the first part, and then started getting cranky towards the end. Hadley has to swim two laps now that she is in the 9 and older age group, she was pooped! I left the meet early with Huxley and put him to bed.

Friday June 7
Huxley loves the garbage truck; he will stand in the yard and watch him all day if he could stay all day! Kevin mowed the grass mid-morning, so I decided to give Huxley his weed wacker toy so he could “help” Dad cut the grass. Oh my gosh Huxley loved this toy! It comes with kid safety goggles, headphones, and a mask. It was a crack up! Its battery powered, he pushes the button, and it sounds like a real weed wacker with plastic blades that go around. It was the cutest thing, and it kept him occupied the entire time Kevin cut the grass! My Aunt Amy sent me the toy, and I purchased it instantly! After Kevin finished cutting the grass, he got called into the firehouse for a partial overtime shift. After Huxley’s nap, the kids and I headed to the pool. I did get in the pool for a little bit, and it was freezing! So, Huxley and I hung out at the baby pool, and Hadley bounced back and forth between the main pool and the baby pool. After both kids were in bed, I hopped in the shower and put some eye masks on for bed. We had to be up early the next day for a softball tournament.

Saturday June 8
We left the house at 6:30am, to be at the softball tournament at 7am. Game time was 8am, but they have to be there an hour early for warmup! I think that is a bit much for their age, but I’m not the coach. So Huxley and I hung out in the car for a little bit before the game started. I can at least contain him in the car! It’s not so easy out in the open. Kevin met us at the game when he got off at the firehouse, and Huxley is more manageable when Kevin is around. The venue we were at was awesome though, had plenty of room for Huxley to roam, but also stay near us. Hadley lost both of her morning games, she played against teams that were above her teams’ level, they held their own, and did their best. We all went back home after game two, Huxley fell asleep in Kevin’s truck on the way home and he never falls asleep! We ate lunch, and then Kevin and Huxley went to sleep. Hadley and I headed back up to the tournament for game three. It was nice to be at a game by myself, I got to sit in my chair the entire game and watch every minute of it! She lost the third game. Once we got home, Kevin took the kids to the pool, and I stayed home alone for a little bit. Once they got home, we played outside for a little bit, ate dinner, and the kids went to bed. I packed a snack bag for the kids before I went to bed, so everything was ready for day two of the softball tournament.

Sunday June 9
Woke up and did some de-puffing and eye mask on the face. It helps relax me! I had to mentally prepare for another day of softball, but this time alone with Huxley. Kevin had another day of overtime. If Hadley won her first game, she was going to play again in the afternoon, so that would’ve meant Huxley would not have napped for the first time in his little toddler life. Thank the lord there was a huge John Deer tractor on the field we were playing on, and he played around on it majority of the time. And for this game, I brought a ton of his toys, his scooter, his shovel to dig in the dirt, and a bunch of other things. Thanks to the tractor, we didn’t have to use hardly any of the toys. It was amazing! Hadley’s team should’ve won this game, but thankfully (sort of), she lost, and we were able to go home and have Huxley nap. After Huxley woke up, we went to the fire departments annual family picnic. My parents met us there. It was a fun afternoon. Huxley was in heaven riding all the rides with Hadley. I even put him on the baby roller coaster, and probably should not have. He cried. He liked every other ride but the roller coaster! We ate dinner there. The kids had some ice cream. Towards the end, Hadley rode a few rides with my parents, and by herself. She is so great with Huxley, but she also needs some time by herself. I’m so glad my parents came; it always helps to have other adults when I’m alone with Huxley! He’s a lot of work! It was a great afternoon.
