Today I am linking up with Shay and Erica, to take a look at our summer schedule this year.

Monday through Friday for the month of June, we have swim team practices in the mornings. Most of the time, we stay and watch. Huxley is pretty good the first half of practice, and then we head to the playground for the last half hour or so. Hadley loves swim team. And since she is nine years old this year, she has to swim two laps and she hates it! I keep telling her she’ll work up her endurance and be fine. Thursday nights are swim meets, for the month of June. Besides the part where she has to swim two laps now, I love that Hadley loves swim team so much. I grew up swimming all the way through high school. Swim team is just for a month, and finals run into the first week of July. It’s not too long, it goes fast!

Tuesday and Thursdays we have softball practice. We are lucky to have two other families we carpool with; it helps me out so much on the nights Kevin works and practice runs late when Huxley is already in bed.

Monday through Friday we read for twenty minutes a day. So far, it’s been going great. We are going to “try” and take accelerated reader (AR) tests online or at the school library once a week.

Every two or three days, I water the flowers. Some days I water in the mornings, and Huxley loves to help. Some days I water in the evenings before bedtime for the kids.

Playing outside just about every day we can! It wears the kids out, especially Huxley the energizer bunny who doesn’t stop until his head hits the pillow. We have so many new kids in our neighborhood, the kids are loving it! Playing outside is so good for the soul. I always tell Hadley that when I grew up, we would stay outside until it was bedtime in the summer! When she says she is bored, I tell her to use her imagination and go outside. Much better than being glued to electronics!

We try and go to the pool as much as we can. It is hard to go without Kevin sometimes, but I manage. Hadley is pretty self-sufficient, and Huxley loves the baby pool. The water is pretty cold still, but it’s nice.

We love to eat outside! It’s a change of pace, and different scenery. I could eat outside all summer, it’s relaxing and nice! Light some citronella candles, and some music, so fun!

It sounds like you have a great mix of activity and playtime for your sweet kids. Also, your library looks really nice!
Aww thank you! Yes, our library is a nice one!
I was just thinking about how different my summer schedule is now compared to when the kids were little. I kind of miss it.
I know I’m going to miss it so much, so I try not to complain some days!
