Hi friends! I’m joining Joanne at Slices of Life for the Share Our Lives link up. For the month of February, we are sharing tips for falling asleep. A fun one, because I love my sleep but sometimes struggle to stay asleep.

Here are the bloggers that are hosting this fun series! If you are interested in joining, it’s the second Monday of each month! Here are my tips for falling asleep that I try to do every night!

- Wash face before bed. Washing my face before bed is a new habit I’ve started the past few years. I can’t believe I used to go to bed with a full face of makeup on! It’s good for your skin, and it makes me feel refreshed before I hop into bed.
- Lotion on hands and feet. I might not do this every night, but a few times I week I put lotion on my hands and feet. I wear socks to bed, so I feel like putting lotion on my feet traps in the moisture especially during the winter months.
- Keep a consistent schedule. To me, keeping a consistent schedule means doing the same / similar things when you go to bed. I may not always go to bed at the same timeframe, depending on what’s going on the next day, etc. But, I do try and do the same thing each night.
- Use bed only for sleep. The only exception for this is I do tend to fold laundry on my bed, but I don’t think that makes a big difference for using the bed only for sleep. Don’t use your bed to write out birthday cards, or do work on your laptop, things like that. Keep the bed for sleeping, so your brain is used to the bed is the place for sleep only!
- Keep it dark. With the exception of the tv on, our bedroom has no lights on or nightlights on. We fall asleep with the tv on, which may not be the best habit but it works for us. Both my husband and I turn on “The Ranch” on Netflix, turn down the volume real low, and we are both out in a short time. I don’t know what it is about that show, but it’s that one. For me, I’m not a huge fan of the show so I guess that’s why I fall asleep quick. My husband loves the show, but he can sleep through a train coming through the house so not much matters for him.
Here are the topics for the rest of the year! I’m excited to join in!

January – Saving Time On Chores

Great tips. I struggle so much since mid life. On the nights I’ve slept wonderfully the next day is fabulous! But I only sleep thru the night without having to get up to pee maybe once a year, lol. It’s horrible getting old, lol
My husband is the same way; I swear he could sleep through anything! He’s been known to fall asleep just about anywhere too.
I used to sleep with a nightlight, but as I’ve gotten older (thank you middle age!), I find that I need complete darkness. It really does make a difference!
I have been washing my face before bed too and putting cream on recently and it is a nice routine. That is a good idea about putting lotion on your feet and wearing socks to keep the moisture in. I think I need to try this.
Great tips!
Thanks for joining us for our link up! I can’t put lotion on my feet 😂but I do put lotion on my hands right before bed. I don’t think I really started taking care of my skin , washing my face, etc., until my mid-30’s but now I’m really good with my skincare. Trying not to age too fast 😂
I try to go to sleep at the same time but that doesn’t happen on the weekend. I need to try lotion
My husband can fall sound asleep within seconds – I don’t know how he does it! I’ve found that putting lotion on my feet is very helpful for relaxing me, so I guess I need to do that more often. I’m a couple days behind, but here from SOL
Good advice. I do keep a regular schedule for bed time!
