Recapping the past two weeks on the blog today. When one kid is sick, it’s hard to stay afloat on the blog, but when both kids are sick, it’s even harder! Here is the recap…
Monday February 17
Off work and school for President’s Day! Huxley taking selfies with my camera. The snow was so pretty, and then we see random turkeys crossing the front yard. Cracks me up every time. Did a workout in the morning. Dropped off some kid clothes at Once Upon a Child, dropped off a return for Amazon, went to the Dollar Tree, and then Kroger. Came home, ate an early dinner and then headed to softball.

Tuesday February 18
Slowly starting to make my office cozier! It was so cold; my pre-workout powder was stuck to the side of my shaker bottle. Did a quick workout when I got home from work. Hadley started to feel a little bad Monday at school, so I had her tough it through one more day and she said her throat hurt so bad. So, we made a doctor’s appointment after school. As we picked up Huxley at daycare to go to the doctor for Hadley, he started to look bad too! So, I made an appointment for Huxley too. Both kids did a strep test and a flu test. Hadley tested negative for both; Huxley tested positive for Flu A. Good lord it’s been a crazy year of sickness!

Wednesday February 19
I worked from home today, both kids stayed home from school. Huxley did not look or act like he had the flu, Hadley on the other hand was glued to the couch with a blanket. I squeezed in a workout because I just needed that for my sanity of being home with two sick kids. After my workout, I did my favorite depuffing mask! And then a sheet mask before bed, because man what a day!

Thursday February 20
Both kids home sick again, thank goodness Kevin was off and could be home with them. I don’t remember why I took this selfie two weeks later haha, but after I get my hair done it always has some crazy hairs that stick straight up like I just rubbed a balloon all over it! Worked out when I got home from work. Hadley did not go to Spanish, since she didn’t go to school. She was starting to feel much better, and Huxley was going in and out on feeling bad and then good.

Friday February 21
Huxley’s actual birthday, he turned three! He was looking pretty bad, just look at those saucy eyes. We cancelled his birthday party for two weeks later. Hadley was feeling much better and was ready to go back to school! She had a big project she had been working on for a few months, it was the annual fourth grade wax museum. She chose Michael Jackson! She memorized her speech and did such a great job! I’m so glad I was able to go and see her before work! After work and school, we did a mini celebration for Huxley and his birthday. I went to Kroger and got little dinosaur cupcakes, and he opened two gifts. He was still feeling a little poopy, you can just see it in his eyes. I got an email from Dolly Parton herself, wishing Huxley a Happy Birthday! When Huxley was born, I joined her Imagination Library and we love it! She sends Huxley a free book once a month, until he turns five! We have found some of our favorite books through Dolly, you can find out more info here!

Saturday February 22
Kevin took Hadley to softball practice. I stayed home with Huxley, he was interested in women’s basketball for a while. Did a workout, it’s not always easy when Huxley is around but I manage. We got Huxley a garbage truck for his birthday, and I think it’s so funny the little license plate on it says “Trashy1”. Huxley keeps going in and out on feeling better, it’s been a weird flu!

Sunday February 23
Kevin worked his part time fire job today. And just look at Huxley’s eyes, he looked worse this morning. Poor guy. I absolutely hate giving him so much medicine, but Motrin is what works best for him, so I dialed it down to not alternating Tylenol and Motrin, to just Motrin. Did a workout in the morning, on the weekends or when I’m not at work I like to work out in the mornings. Huxley loves his new garbage truck! We stood outside and played in the driveway for an hour or so. I put the winter coats on the kids, and we went outside and got some fresh air!

Monday February 24
Out of uniform for Hadley at school! I love it when she wears the little beanie I got her. Huxley still wasn’t 100%, so he stayed home again. I squeezed in a workout in the morning. Huxley was feeling better, but still not himself. I hate sending him to daycare when he’s not fully healthy. Daycare is a vicious circle, there is almost always a handful of kids with snot running out of their nose! It drives me insane. But it’s reality! Huxley’s godmother sent him the cutest book for his birthday, we read it that night before bed and it was a good one! Thanks Aunt Becca!

Tuesday February 25
Huxley finally back to daycare! I took a screenshot of the webcam (even though we aren’t supposed to), and after this screenshot he gave his teacher a hug! It was so cute. After school and work, it was so so nice outside we took a walk and Hadley rode her bike. After dinner, I attended a first responder seminar. It was really good, they had a speaker that talked about things to help spouses, partners, family members deal with the first responder line of work. One example was the emotion wheel, we had to pick two emotions we were feeling that day and send it to our spouses and vice versa. Another resource was a list of books to read, I took a screenshot and might check them out!

Wednesday February 26
I’ve added a few little plants to my office, and slowly adding some decor. It’s coming along nicely! I still have more I’d like to do, but it will come in time. After work, I met up with my Mom and Aunt Amy for dinner and drinks to celebrate my birthday early. It was nice to hangout and just talk! Hadley had indoor practice, and Kevin had to take Huxley for once! It was a nice break!

Thursday February 27
I found this artwork for office decor on Amazon and thought it was hilarious! You can’t tell me you’ve thought of at least some of these before? So funny! Worked out after work. Huxley has become the king of stalling for bedtime, he wants to say goodnight to Hadley just a few times.

Friday February 28
Kevin surprised me before work and got my favorite Starbucks chai tea latte. Trying to decide what to fill the candy jar at work with next. Did a car wash with Huxley. Walked around the neighborhood by myself, and then Kevin did a photobomb of my accountability photo! Kevin grilled out hamburgers for dinner. Hadley and I played hangman on her whiteboard.

Saturday March 1
Hadley had her first out of town softball tournament! She was pumped! Kevin took her solo since he got the day off work and all. I stayed home with Huxley since it was going to be freezing out, and it was just a one-day tournament so you never know what time you’ll be home. Did a workout after they left. Arranged my new office! Kevin had put the desk together, and I re-arranged it while Huxley was awake, and while he was taking a nap. While Huxley slept, started the Hulu documentary Ruby Franke and oh my god. I cannot. I hope her and that other chick rot in prison. Fun little gifts for my early birthday with my mom and aunt. Hadley won her tournament! She got her second ring! First tournament of the season!

Sunday March 2
Treated the kids to donuts Sunday morning. Huxley was so happy to have Hadley home. When she’s gone for just a few hours, he misses her so much. She was gone pretty much all-day Saturday, so he didn’t see her until Sunday morning. Worked out while the kids enjoyed donuts that I soo wanted but refrained myself. Played with Huxley, he was obsessed with putting the nerf gun bullets in and out of this container thing. Enjoyed my chai tea while Huxley napped, and Hadley played at a friend’s house. And then fell asleep with eye masks as my last night as a forty-five-year-old!
