Weekly Recap.

Happy Monday! How is everyone? Another busy week with softball practice, catching practice, occupational therapy, Reds opening day, and a softball tournament! Linking up with Holly and Sarah! Here is the recap…

Monday March 23.
After school, Hadley gets on her softball practice attire and heads outside to toss with Huxley. Now that we got him his first glove, he loves it. Every Monday, I pack snacks for the long drive to softball practice. We carpool and pickup up another teammate before practice so we have to leave over an hour before practice even starts. Lots of traffic driving from Cincy to Kentucky! When we got home, Kevin and Huxley were tossing a little bit outside. It’s so cute watching Huxley throw!

Tuesday March 24.
Hadley is letting the neighbors dogs out after school for a few weeks, and she took Huxley over with her. Huxley started crying when the one dog wouldn’t come in, so Hadley had him go inside and sit on the couch and then the dog came in. Hadley took a selfie of her and Huxley and he was a little upset, but still smiling. Then off to catching that night, we ordered Chipotle to go on the way home because we had an early morning the next day.

Wednesday March 25.
Hadley had her (hopefully) last occupational therapy appointment for her wrist at 7:30am! We had to leave our house around 6:45am, so it was an early morning for us all. Children’s Hospital is always so nice, they gave Huxley a coloring page and we sat at the kiddie table and colored until we were called back. Great news, she was cleared and her wrist is 100%! The O.T. did recommend to do the putty throughout her softball season, just as an additional practice and to build more strength in her wrist. Worked out later in the afternoon, and then we just chilled.

Thursday March 26.
Worked out before we started the day! Kevin took both kids to school, and then we got ready for our fun day. Reds Opening Day, the first day of baseball season! My parents picked up Huxley at daycare before his nap, so he got to nap at home! He was so happy. We went down to all the opening day festivities with some friends, and met up with some other fire people. The weather was absolutely beautiful! I think this is our third or fourth year of doing the flag on the field. The fire department volunteers, and we get to wear a fire shirt, go out on the field during the National Anthem, and hold the flag before the game starts. It’s so fun! And then we watch the game. One of my favorite days of the year!

After Hadley got home from school, my parents took the kids to Arby’s for dinner. After we got home and put the kids to bed, I made two snackle boxes for the kids for the softball tournament Saturday.

Friday March 27.
I had a meeting downtown today, so I couldn’t go to Hadley’s school music showcase. Kevin was at the firehouse, so I asked my parents if they could go since neither one of us could. The middle school grades puts on a music showcase every year, the different grades each do a song and some type of performance whether it be a dance, or using musical instruments.

After I got home from my meeting, we picked up Huxley at daycare and then started packing. We decide to get a hotel the night before Hadley’s softball tournament. It was a little over a two-hour drive to Louisville, KY, so we just got a hotel room. After the Friday night drive to Louisville took over THREE HOURS to get to the hotel, it probably wasn’t really worth it but oh well. The kids had fun. We ate dinner at the hotel bistro, hung out, watched tv, and then went to bed. Huxley did not sleep good at all, I guess he wasn’t feeling the best. Which wasn’t going to make for a fun day of softball the next morning.

Saturday March 28.
Ready to check out of the hotel, and Huxley was a big helper pulling the wagon. The hotel did not have breakfast provided, so we left early enough to get the kid’s breakfast. Hadley wanted McDonald’s pancakes, and Huxley wanted Dunkin Donuts munchkins. Since we had plenty of time, we went to both places. Happy kiddos are all the matters some days.

We arrive at the fields, and it was a little chilly outside. Chilly enough to wear layers, like thirty to forty degrees temps. Kevin worked at the firehouse on Friday, so when he got off Saturday morning he drove home, showered, got ready, and then drove the two hour drive and met us at the fields. I was sooo glad he came, because I could tell Huxley wasn’t feeling the best. I’m glad I brought the Motrin, it seemed to help a little. Huxley did manage to take a mini nap in the wagon, I told him I would make a fort with the blanket and it worked! We checked on him twice to make sure he had some air in there.

Hadley had two games in the morning for pool play, and then two games in the afternoon for bracket play. The fields had two different playgrounds which helps with little ones! With him not feeling good, he would play with his cars, his scooter, and then take breaks and chill in the wagon and watch his iPad. Towards the end, he just stayed in the wagon.

Hadley had a better tournament than the last one, her wrist is all healed now and just had a better experience for her personally. Her team did amazing and whopped some *ss. Out of the four total games they played, her team had 54 runs – 0, with only one run allowed. Just amazing. Hadley got her 11th ring with this team! Hadley rode home with Kevin, and Huxley rode home with me. About 10 minutes until we were home, he turned off his iPad and said, “Mom, I’m going to bed.” And then fell asleep in about five seconds, it was the cutest thing.

Sunday March 29.
Hadley started her Sunday softball league, they are playing up in a 12U league to get ready for fall ball. Her team is currently a 10U B-level team, but probably should be an A level team because we crush most of the teams we play lately. Hadley was warming up with one of the pitchers before the game started. I stayed home with Huxley because he wasn’t feeling the best still, and his cheeks and nose got burnt so bad from the tournament on Saturday. We feel horrible as parents for letting him get so burnt, it was so cold and windy so we think it was a little bit of wind burn, and sun burn mixed together, on top of not feeling the best, just not a good mix. He took over a three hour nap so that was a plus of staying home.

Hadley’s team lost the first game, and tied the second game. Playing 12U is a little different, they play with a larger size softball, and pitching and the bases are farther apart than in 10U so it’s a little bit of an adjustment.

When Hadley and Kevin got home from the games, Huxley and I had dinner started. We had small filets, asparagus, mac & cheese, and a baked potato. After Huxley’s long nap, he was starting to look a little better but I still would love for him to stay home from daycare on Monday. Try to get into the doctor and get him checked out, when he coughs it sounds like bronchitis but not sure.

I’m so glad Hadley had a good weekend with her softball tournament and league games. She has developed some close friendships with some of the girls on the team, and I love to watch her grow with her teammates.
