Happy Monday! How is everyone? Life has been busy lately and I miss blogging so much! Here is the recap from the week…
Monday June 1.
Started the week with softball camp! After work, I walked at the trail. And then Hadley had her school’s softball team end of season tournament. Hadley caught the whole game, so she was excited. They lost though. When we got home from the tournament, Hadley wanted her black softball pants washed for camp the next day. So I went down to the basement and found a pool of water in the laundry room. So fun! I put a ton of towels all over to soak up the water.
Tuesday June 2.
Hadley went to softball camp again today. I worked from home because we had a company come out to check the septic. And sure enough, it was the septic tank that had a stoppage that was causing the water leakage in the laundry room. After a few hours, it was finally fixed! Huxley was excited to go to school, it was Kona Ice day! He had his envelope of money to pay up for the rest of the summer. Before I picked up Huxley, I walked at the trail. And then Kevin and both kids had a haircut!
Wednesday June 3.
Hadley went to her first swim team practice! Since she had softball camp Monday and Tuesday this week, Wednesday was the first day she was able to go. Some new coaches this year, and I like how it’s going already. They had loud music playing during practice, it was a fun vibe for sure! At Huxley’s daycare, they had a magic show guy come and Huxley actually went up to the rabbit and touched it, I was shocked! Before I picked up Huxley, I walked at the trail.
I took my parents to the airport for their big trip! To celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this month, they are going on a train ride through Switzerland, and then a cruise through Greece! I am sooo incredibly jealous and happy for them! Went to the library and Hadley checked out some books to read this summer. She always starts strong in the beginning, let’s hope she can keep the momentum going reading. And then it was time to head to softball, the traffic was so bad it sucked. The fields did have a playground, and nice bathroom for fields. Huxley loved checking out all the new things to play on, and then we set up our chairs in the shade and he played with his toys and I watched Hadley practice.
Thursday June 4.
They set up a fort to play in, it was so cute. And Huxley wore the same shirt as Hadley so he could match her. Later in the day, we went to the pool since we had NOTHING to do at night! Huxley was so excited he could stand in the shallow end, and he refused to bring his floaties. It’s an entire different ballgame with him in the pool without floaties! Summer nights at the pool are the best.
Friday June 5.
I was off work today since we had to leave during the day for a softball tournament. While Kevin was loading the truck up, I took a walk around the neighborhood to get some movement in before a busy weekend. The tournament was a little over an hour away, but we had a hotel for two nights since it was a three day tournament. Hadley’s team played one game Friday night, they won 5-2! Their were 24 teams in this tournament! After the game, we went out to eat with one of the other families at a restaurant by our hotel.
Once we got to the hotel, we blew up the race car air mattress we got special for Huxley. Both Hadley and Huxley usually sleep in the same bed together, but Huxley always has a hard time falling asleep so I thought an air mattress would be a great idea. And it was a fabulous idea! He slept amazing both nights!
Kevin stayed up in the room with Huxley while I was down in the lobby with some of the parents and girls. Some of them brought their squishies and they had a literal trading event. I do not understand what the big deal is with squishies! They are gross and so dumb to me!
Saturday June 6.
Softball tournament day two! I love it when the one girl coach braids Hadley’s hair, I just can’t figure french braids out! Kevin set up both of our tents, and it was nice to have so much shade for Huxley. Somehow our little tent turned into a daycare center which wasn’t the most fun, but it is what it is I guess. Huxley eventually took a nap during a long break between games, thank goodness!
Hadley and I drove a little ways down the road to pickup some food. The lines were crazy, I guess every softball and baseball family that was out there went to the same places we did because it was packed!
They only had two games this day, lost the first game 1-5, and won the second game 8-1. On our way back to the hotel, we grabbed something to eat at the drive-thru so the kids could swim and relax. Huxley walked down to the pool barefoot! I kept saying, “second kid, second kid.” If that was Hadley, I would’ve had a fit and made her wear shoes. But the second feral child? No problem. LOL. The kids had a blast swimming, the indoor pool wasn’t terrible. Most indoor pools are super hot, and your eyes burn from all the cholrine.
Sunday June 7.
Tournament day three! The first game was at 8am, and we decided that Kevin and Hadley get a ride with one of the other parents and Huxley and I sleep in and take our time. It was almost a guarantee they were going to win the first game, so we went with it. Huxley slept until 8am! Kevin and Hadley left around 6:30am so it worked out great. One of the other teammates siblings was patiently waiting or Huxley to arrive, it was cute.
As I packed up all the stuff, and loaded it in the truck, Huxley and I stopped by the breakfast bar and the nice ladies that work there gave us two to-go boxes, and a bag to go! We loaded up with some eggs, bacon, a biscuit, and some fruit. Huxley got a cup full of cereal to go. They were the nicest ladies!
Once we arrived at the fields, it was hot! Hadley played FIVE games today. They won the first four games, and coming in second place after losing the fifth game 4-5. We were winning 4-1, then they changed pitchers and walked some girls, and ended up losing by one. It was crazy. Hadley played great though. She caught, and played shortstop. She also did so good batting, she has had a few dry spells lately and this tournament she hit the damn ball! She might’ve gotten out, but she swung and hit the ball, which boosted her confidence so much!
