Weekly Recap.

Recapping the week on the blog! Summer week 4, walks at a park, the DMV, kids’ day at the pool, swim meet, playing outside, and Hadley made dinner!

Monday June 17
Woke up Monday morning and noticed the second fish from the festival had died. So, the “free” festival fish that cost $45 all died within weeks of each other. Started walking at a park while Hadley is at swim team practice. Walking at a park is a lot more fun than walking around the parking lot of the pool. After Huxley’s nap, we went to the pool for a little bit. It’s always stressful for me to take the kids to the pool by myself, but after I do it, it ends up being not that bad if I can just let myself relax!

Tuesday June 18
Walked at the park during swim team, and then after swim team I braved the DMV by myself with the kids. My tags on the good ole minivan was due, and I needed to get them within a day or two. Thank God the wait was only ten minutes or so, and thanks to having some suckers in the diaper bag, made it all that much better. Note to self: always have suckers on hand for instances like going to the DMV! After Kevin got off work at the firehouse, he went to his brother’s house to pick up the trailer to pick up the gator that was ready for his dad. Huxley loves tractors, gators, etc. He wouldn’t get off of the darn thing until we made him. Hadley’s softball practice was cancelled due to the heat, but Kevin had to umpire two games, so Hadley went with him. She loves to watch him umpire, and this night was 16U, so she was super excited to watch the older girls play some ball. Huxley and I had dinner, and then after we went outside for him to eat his yogurt pop. And then bed!

Wednesday June 19
Kevin joined us on our walk to the park during swim team. Hadley just loves swim team, she has fun with her school friends, and new friends she’s made. The pool had kids’ day this day, so Kevin took her up for the day while I stayed home with Huxley so he could nap. They had some fun things planned out for the day.

Thursday June 20
Walked at the park during swim team. After practice, we went to a local cafe place to try their smoothies for the kids. And to keep Huxley occupied at the library. During the summer, Hadley is reading one book a week and we go to the library every Wednesday or Thursday. Swim team meet tonight, and I was solo with Huxley. We dropped Hadley off an hour early for warm-ups, and then Huxley and I hung out in my car before we went inside. Hadley grabbed a table by putting our stuff on it, and so Huxley and I walked in closer to the meet start time. Less time for him to run around like a crazy man. It was so hot out, I was dripping! Huxley was pretty good this time, if we stay by the playground, he’s pretty happy. It’s when we watch Hadley swim, is when it’s hard to keep him by my side. He was about done for her last event. Hadley was done around 8pm, so it wasn’t too too bad.

Friday June 21
Swim team pictures in the morning! We arrived about 20 minutes early, and the gates to the pool were still closed. After five more cars were parked behind me, someone finally came ten minutes before photos were supposed to start. After pictures, we headed to Kroger to grab a few things. And then headed home for lunch, and a nap for Huxley. When Huxley woke up, we played outside with some water balloons until it was dinner time. The kids ate dinner in the family room on TV trays, while watching a movie. Huxley does pretty good with the TV tray! Before I go to bed, I always like to clean up the kitchen so when I wake up the next morning it’s a fresh start.

Saturday June 22
Went to the park to walk, Hadley brought her scooter and was able to join us because we had no sports this day! After we walked almost two miles around the park, we played on the playgrounds for a little bit. Went to Meijer after the park, and then home for lunch and naptime. Hadley begged to go to the pool today, but I just didn’t have the patience for it. So, they played outside with the sprinkler, the grass and flowers get watered, and they can play. On our 2024 Summer Bucket List, one of the items is for the kids to cook dinner. So, Hadley cooked, with some help of course. She made chicken, potatoes, Stax chips, and grapes. She was pretty good with being careful with the oven! After dinner, they had ice cream pops outside. Less mess for sure!

Sunday June 23
As soon as the kids woke up, we headed to Kroger to take advantage of their water bottle sale. In honor of #nationalhydrationday they had water bottles on sale for $6.00! Hadley picked out an Owala brand, and it was a great deal. Originally priced at $24.99, down to $6.00! She was excited! We pretty much chilled at home the rest of the day. Hadley played outside with the neighborhood boys for a little bit. We ate dinner, and then went to Graeter’s for a sweet treat. When we got home, Huxley saw our neighbor Margie watering her flowers. He went on our porch, grabbed the little watering can he uses, and walked over to her. It was so cute. And then his favorite guy on the street, “Bill”, came out and we just talked and watched Huxley try and spray us with the hose. They are the best neighbors!
