Garbage Truck 3rd Birthday Party.

We celebrated Huxley turning three, garbage truck style! He has been obsessing over garbage trucks a little more than his fire trucks lately. So we went with a garbage truck themed birthday party!

The invitations were made in Photoshop. I googled this image of a garbage truck, and a garbage can and altered it for the invitation.

As you walk into our house, I did a chalkboard sign of a garbage truck and a garbage can. I hung some balloons on the front door in the colors of the garbage truck. Green, blue, and yellow. Behind the chalkboard, I wrapped a bunch of saved boxes in newspaper to give it a more garbage vibe.

In our family room on the mantle, I hung a large sign that says “Happy 3rd Birthday. Dump Everything!” It was the best quality sign I’ve ever ordered from Amazon! The material of the sign was like a thick canvas, very durable. The large sign came in a kit with multiple other items, one of those items was matching garbage truck balloons. I stuck one balloon above the mantle, it sat nicely in front of all the picture frames.

On the bar area, leading into the kitchen I set out some snacks. Kevin made his grandma’s delicious pretzel dip, we had a meat and cheese tray, and Doritos, goldfish, and applesauce. I made some vanilla cupcakes with green icing, and a blue/white/green mix of sprinkles. And last but not least, the birthday cake!

As a fun chandelier type decoration, I hung some empty pop / beer cans from the light fixture over the kitchen table. Across the pantry doors, I hung a little banner made up of mini garbage trucks and garbage cans.

In the living room, we usually have two tables set up but this year I just set up one. I put a yellow tablecloth on the one table, and it matched perfectly! The newspaper backdrop I made myself, it was the easiest thing I’ve made for a party. All I did was tape a bunch of newspapers together, painted Huxley’s name in green paint, and taped it to the wall! So easy! Added some green streamers, and some balloons. And there you have it, the easiest decoration!

On the one table, I put tiny black trash bags inside these metal mini garbage cans and added some snacks inside. M&M’s, peanut, and popcorn. Not the best hands free friendliest food, but it was cute. I always try to think of food that has the least amount of hands in it, because we all know kids just shove food in their mouth without a care in the world haha. I bought the mini scoopers at the dollar store.

On the bar cart, I had a few more snacks, mostly candy, and some beverages. Juice, water, and pop. Also, another item that came in the big kit with the big sign was a giant number three balloon. We stuck it on the wall.

As you walk into the playroom area, I hung a simple Happy Birthday banner with garbage trucks. Huxley’s cousins are both older than him and he is taller than both of them. It’s always so fun to see when they are together.

Since it was a garbage truck themed party, I bought the best shirt! Regardless of your thoughts on the President, I thought it was hilarious and loved every second of it. Most of my family loved it too!

The weather was just beautiful! The kids played outside off and on. I love it when we have get togethers and the weather is nice, the kids aren’t stuck inside the majority of the time. I did have some small games to play, but we only played one and I did not take any photos of it. The one game was pin the garbage on the garbage truck, it was super-fast and over in five minutes!

Huxley was a wildman opening his presents! Hadley was the best big sister and helped him. As he was opening the gifts, he was obsessed with this one log truck that I got from the dollar store, of all things! Huxley received so many great gifts!

The cake! I bought a plan chocolate cake from Kroger. I sliced off the icing on top, crushed up some oreos, spread them over the top so it looked like dirt, and then placed a garbage truck car and a cake topper on top. I loved the cake, so easy to do!

Huxley was so cute sitting in the chair while we all sang Happy Birthday to him. After we sung to him, he wanted to get up and walk away to play. But we reminded him to blow out his candles, so he did! It took him a few tries, but he blew them out so well!

Turns out he didn’t want chocolate cake; he wanted a cupcake! Look at that green mouth!

The party was a great time! I think Huxley enjoyed himself. He kept talking about this birthday party the whole weekend. As everyone was arriving, he was just waking up from his nap. He jumped up, and wanted to come straight downstairs to his party! He was so cute. We had so much fun celebrating our little three-year-old!
