Pregnancy Smoothie.

Since I became pregnant, I’ve been having this smoothie just about every morning. It’s super simple, and delicious. It’s flavorful, and full of healthy vitamins and minerals.

Let’s dive into the simple recipe!

You can use any flavor greek yogurt you like, I like to use any vanilla flavor or sometimes have to use whatever the grocery store has in stock nowadays! I don’t use the full scoop of protein powder, just a smidge. You can basically use whatever flavor of anything you’d like. For the almond milk, I’ll switch brands and switch from vanilla to regular, things like that. Make it to your liking!

Blend all the ingredients together!

I like to have toast with my smoothie! Sugar and cinnamon mixture on top. Soo good. I hope you enjoy this simple yet delicious smoothie. You can alter it to however you’d like! Sometimes I throw in a few strawberries to mix it up.

36 weeks.

Running out of womb! Literally! My belly feels like this little man is out growing the womb, he moves all around and I’ll feel a leg, an arm, or whatever it is I feel like he doesn’t have much space left.

I’m thankful that I’ve been so active and healthy up until this point. I’ve been super consistent with working out still, and commend myself for doing so. On the days I go into the office, I do not workout because I’m exhausted when I come home. On the days I work from home, I most definitely workout in the morning and my day is just so much better afterwards.

This baby feels bigger than my last pregnancy, and the weight I’m carrying feels a lot heavier. Maybe it’s just the difference between a girl and a boy? I still don’t feel as big as I was with my first pregnancy, don’t get me wrong, there are days where I feel ginormous but most days I just feel like my normal self with a little bit bigger belly.

The weekly ultrasounds have been going good, little man does all the specific moves he’s supposed to do. Each week they look for a certain amount of fluid, body movement, breathing, etc. And they are pushing me to deliver a week early! I am pushing right back and saying no, there is no reason to be induced a week early unless it’s medically necessary. I’m a huge fan of letting the baby stay in until he’s ready to come out.

Casual Maternity Tops.

Happy Thursday, sweet friends! Here is a little maternity top haul I wanted to share. These are the tops I just bought, and some have been a staple throughout this pregnancy.

This top is a burgundy tie-dye sweatshirt, and it’s got the side shirring to accommodate the growing belly. I usually am not a fan of the traditional maternity tops, but I do like this one since you can’t really tell it’s maternity unless you are up close. Top link: here

This is a soft fleece lounge sweatshirt that is not maternity, so I just sized up to a XXL in this one. It is sooo soft and comfy I love it! The color is charcoal gray. I wanted to find a few tops that were comfy to wear either at the hospital, or coming home after birth. Top link: here

Not all of these tops are considered “maternity”, but they work just as well. This top is a long sleeve crew neck, and I sized up, which is what I normally do for most of the tops I’ve been wearing. Color is heathered gray. Top link: here

Pink sweater is maternity, and it’s very soft. It’s a sweater, so if you get hot don’t wear a short sleeve underneath because it is warm! Top link: here

This one is my most worn top, and again it’s not the traditional maternity. I sized up, and it’s the comfiest sweatshirt I’ve worn. The top is the Ultra-Soft Fleece from Kohl’s, color is Olive Camo. Top link: here

I had to get a new Bengals top to support our local team! I do not have a link for this one, but it is from Target in the sports section. I sized up to fit the growing belly.

In general, I will say that I mainly buy regular tops for this pregnancy and size up from my normal size. Either a size or two, depending on the fit of the top. Going that route seems to work for me, since I don’t really like all the traditional maternity tops that have all that shirring on the sides. I hate that!

35 weeks.

If anything drops on the floor, it’s dead to me. This statement couldn’t be any more true. It seriously feels like anything I have in my hands almost always falls to the floor, or I drop it, and then it’s such a chore to pick it up. So fun haha

We are about a month until little man’s due date. He is due February 22nd. From here on out I’m just going to be uncomfortable period. The only update I really have is, I just can’t get comfy. But like I keep saying, I’ll take these last few weeks of being uncomfortable after not even feeling or looking pregnant until month seven!

I am feeling tired, but obviously still super excited because I cannot believe it’s about a month away from the due date. I’ve had lots of friends and family members send me texts saying how excited they are to see what he looks like, and to find out his name.

Tomorrow is my next weekly ultrasound, it is comforting to see him each week. Healthy and happy in the belly! I’ve gained weight, as someone naturally would with a growing giant belly, and I’m happy with the weight that I have gained! I can’t wait to get back to my regular HIIT workouts though!

Looking forward to finishing up the babys room soon. We have most everything we need for the most part, just need to figure out what to hang on the walls!

3rd Trimester / First vs. Second kid.

Seven years ago I had my daughter Hadley. In these pictures above, you can barely tell I had a bump let alone pregnant. I was a little larger seven years ago, but didn’t care at all then. I was in a different mindset, and a different place in my life. I was so unbelievably happy to be having my first child, it was such a special time.

Seven years later, and in my third trimester with my second kid. What a difference! Still so unbelievably happy to be having my second child, still such a special time in my life, and I am also in a different mindset in life. Two years ago, I changed my lifestyle by eating differently, and incorporating exercise in my life. And I’m happy to say I’ve maintained the incorporating exercise portion throughout this pregnancy! Having a different mindset going into this pregnancy, has made a huge difference in so many ways. My mental health, my physical health, and just my overall state of being.

Third trimesters, sevenish years apart. What a difference right?!?!

34 weeks.

So pregnant. So tired. Always hungry. Nothing fits. Pretty much sums up the 34 week mark.

Don’t get me wrong, I still feel pretty amazing overall, but the little things are starting to catch up with me. Sleeping at night hasn’t been fun, I can fall asleep okay but it’s when I have to use the bathroom at least two times a night is what wakes me up and then I have trouble falling back to sleep each time. The belly is feeling heavier and heavier, I’m not really comfortable unless I’m sitting in my office chair at home, or the kitchen table chair. Everywhere else is super uncomfortable, except laying down in my bed!

One other thing that has popped up recently is a bad tooth ache. I’ve read your teeth can do strange things while pregnant and it’s good to get checkups. I had a dentist appointment scheduled, but then I started feeling a little under the weather last week so I cancelled the appointment. The thought of laying on my back, at an incline, while feeling not so great wasn’t a great idea.

If that’s all I have to complain about, I know I’m pretty lucky! Something my husband said to me the other day made me feel pretty amazing. He said, “you know you have no stretch marks on your belly?” I don’t put any lotion or anything on the belly either, so that made me feel pretty damn good. Thanks babe! When you’re feeling large and in charge, sweet comments like that are what I need right now.

Had my weekly ultrasound today, little man is looking right on track. He’s the size of a pineapple now! The tail end of this pregnancy is getting closer and closer. I still can’t believe it some days.

Since it’s been seven years since I had my daughter, we are basically starting from scratch again as far as baby items go. I did a baby registry on Amazon, mainly for the completion discount. I will share later once I can report back on what I would absolutely register for again, what I would skip, and anything I may have missed. It’s amazing how much things change over the years!

I’ve still been living in maternity leggings, which I’ve only purchased one pair that fit me the best. I desperately need to buy one more so I can have an extra in the hospital bag I have yet to pack! Shoes have been pretty much my Brooks gym shoes all the time, unless I have to go in the office. I have pretty much the same few tops I wear because they are loose and comfy. I could care less about fashion right now, everything is all about comfort for me.

Thankfully, I don’t have too many overpowering symptoms of pregnancy, even still. My belly is huge, which makes bending over a little tough, laying down a little trickier, and finding a comfy chair to sit on. And knock on wood, I’ve only had acid reflux one time! With my daughter Hadley, I had it quite a lot. My skin has been amazing, no breakouts nothing. Peeing a lot more frequently, and not sleeping the best but nothing that is too overwhelming.

Going to appointments every week now. Weekly ultrasounds, and every other week with the doctor. After week 36, the appointments will be weekly with the doc. I normally hate going to the doctor, but with pregnancy, surprisingly, has changed that. It’s so fun to see how the baby is doing each week, I look forward to it so much!

32 weeks.

Yes, the sound effects are totally necessary! Anytime I move, sit, stand, basically do anything I feel the need to make a noise or grunt or something. And if I’m super active during the day, then I’m useless at night. Still managing to exercise in the mornings which is awesome, going to try and keep that up until the end.

Doctor’s visits during the third trimester are very uneventful, other than I have to do an ultrasound every week now. Getting to the doctor every week from here on out is a bit annoying, but thankful everything is looking healthy, which I am overly grateful for. My blood pressure has always been great, never had issues with that thank goodness.

My weight gain has been very good at this point, which I’m very happy with. I still like a crazy person, weigh myself everyday. Ever since I started my keto lifestyle roughly around two years ago, I’ve always weighed myself every morning. I am not doing keto while pregnant, it’s not very good to go low to no carbs, and besides I crave carbs! I know that I’m going to gain weight being pregnant, it just helps me know how much I really am gaining throughout this pregnancy and very happy with the results!

Getting my five to six day a week workouts in, and feeling great! When I say feeling great, I definately don’t feel like my normal self working out but I’m so happy that I’m still moving my body 32 weeks later! Just about everyday, I am doing the Nancy Taylor Prenatal Workout which is pretty easy, gets my heart rate up, and my body moving. I feel very proud of myself for maintaining a workout routine for the most part almost daily. I feel so good after my workouts, which is why I do the majority of them in the mornings unless I’m in the office that day. I feel energized throughout the day, until mid-late afternoon and then I’m pooped.

Little man is the size of a cantaloupe now. But feels like I’m carrying a bowling ball some days! For real, I feel like I’ve got the pregnant lady waddle going on some days. If I do too much during the day, like lots of laundry, cleaning, up and down at work, then I can feel it at night. The belly literally feels like I’m carrying a gigantic bowling ball around and it hurts!

An adventure is about to begin.

Yay! We have the best news to share. I feel like I’ve been keeping this secret for soo long, but we wanted to wait for the right time to share on here. By now most of you have probably seen our pregnancy announcement on Instagram, but if not…our family is growing! We will be having a sweet little baby come February!

As this blog has been a place of documentation for this life, it’s only fitting to write a post celebrating our growing family! So I’d like to share a little about our journey to this place we are at.

HOW WE FOUND OUT

We found out I was pregnant towards the end of June. I was literally one of those women that had no clue I was pregnant, mainly because we were done trying about two years now. I was eleven days late with my period, and thought oh my I better take a test to see. I remember this night distinctively, it was late like 10pm and I took a pregnancy test that was probably left over from my now seven year old daughter. The test was positive almost immediately. Another “oh my” went through my brain. I called my husband at the firehouse and told him over the phone. Yes I know, but I couldn’t keep that to myself all night! He suggested I get another test, preferably one that is brand new the next morning and take another one. Sure enough, the next morning the test was instantly positive again.

I was in shock. Happy, but in shock. Two years prior to this, I experienced a miscarriage. It was tough, but it wasn’t meant to be. I’m a firm believer everything happens for a reason. After the miscarriage, we stopped trying and worrying about it. I was content with not having anymore kids. Well, two years later surprise! Baby on the way!

It truly feels surreal, and it took me awhile to actually accept that this was really happening. We had just donated 90% of my daughters baby stuff, so we are literally starting from scratch again. The only thing I kept was a pink high chair!

BOY OR GIRL?

We chose to find out the gender super early, at ten weeks! I didn’t know you could find out that early now, but it was all done through blood work. I had some of the genetic and other testing done also which all came back great. It’s a little hard to see, but I made cake pops and had Hadley bite into them to find out if it was a boy or girl. Well….it’s a BOY! We are so excited!

I started taking weekly photos here and there. And you’ll notice none of them are of the side view. I’m not a fan of the side view pregnant or not! Maybe when the belly gets super super round! The 21 week ultrasound was my favorite visit so far, you could really see the little mans head!

THIS PREGNANCY SO FAR

So far, I’m feeling so good! I’m in my third trimester, and finally starting to feel pregnant! It’s been weird, but I haven’t really felt pregnant until the third trimester. I had very minimal symptoms in the very beginning, felt a little nauseous here and there, but never got sick. I’ve felt totally different than with my daughter Hadley. I’ve been exercising just about everyday, some days I might not do a workout per se, but I’ll do something to move my body and get my heart rate up. I know every pregnancy is different, and I’m so grateful this one has been so easy so far.

Cravings have been pretty mild up until the third trimester. I’m craving anything chocolate and carbs. Prior to getting pregnant, I was a huge keto fan and was able to maintain my lifestyle with that way of eating. The second I got pregnant, ground beef which is one of my favorite proteins to eat, was repulsive and I couldn’t even look at it! I’m not a coffee drinker, so I don’t have to worry about too much caffeine.

NEXT STEPS

Prayers for a healthy baby boy and pregnancy! I cannot wait until birth to find out the gender, I am too much of a planner! We have his room all painted, the crib set up, and the recliner all ready to go. Still need a few things yet, and have started to accumulate some clothes!

How are you feeling?
Now that I’m in the third trimester, I’m finally starting to feel pregnant! Weird, I know but it is what it is. Feeling pretty good, have lots of energy until late in the day and then I just want to chill.

When are you due?
I’m due mid-late February! Perfect month, because during maternity leave the weather will be getting warmer, let’s hope!

Do you know if you’re having a boy or girl?
Yes, as pictured above in this post, we are having a BOY! We have a few names picked out, but are not sharing until birth. I like to have some sort of surprise!

Is Hadley excited?
Yes, she is very excited. Some days she’s totally into it, other days she’s not so much. I think with her being seven years old, she’ll be such a great help. But also, I don’t think she knows how much her world is really going to change having a baby around.
