I’m starting a movie series each month this year, by doing different genres! Next up, my favorite musical movies! Some of these I wasn’t too sure if they were considered musical or not, but I added them anyways!
THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
Not many people like this one, but I love it! Julie Andrews is amazing, and I love the songs. It’s just a classic. Movie can be found here.
THE FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.
Another musical I don’t know many people that like, but I have seen this movie so many times. I love it! I guess I just love musicals? Not all, but most. Movie can be found here.
WHITE CHRISTMAS.
This one is just okay to me, my Aunt Amy watches it every year and I hadn’t seen it until this past Christmas. I made it through the entire movie, and I get why it’s such a special classic. But I couldn’t watch it more than once a year. Movie can be found here.
THE BLUES BROTHERS.
I can honestly say I think I’ve seen this movie one time, forever ago! And I don’t remember it! I need to watch it again; it has to be a great one. Movie can be found here.
ANNIE.
In grade school, my friends and I did a skit to the “It’s a Hard Knock Life” song, what a core memory. I love this movie! I think I know every song by heart. Movie can be found here.
THE COLOR PURPLE.
I’m not exactly sure if this is considered a musical movie, but I’m going to go with yes, it is one. Oprah Winfrey was great in this movie. Definitely not for kids, but another classic that you should watch. Movie can be found here.
SCHOOL OF ROCK.
Jack Black is hilarious in this movie! He gets kicked out of his band and decides to impersonate a teacher and turns his class into his own band. It’s a super cute movie, my daughter has requested to watch this one quite a few times. Movie can be found here.
FOOTLOOSE.
Haven’t seen this one in ages, but I remember it’s a great one. Kevin Bacon just recently went back to the high school this movie was filmed at for their prom! A classic. Movie can be found here.
NEWSIES.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this movie! But I needed ten movies for my list, so I added this one. I need to watch it. I think I’ve seen clips or previews of this one, but not actually watched it. Movie can be found here.

I love the Sound of Music and Annie! Footloose was such a fun movie growing up. I’d probably also add Mama Mia to the list.
Sound of Music is one of my faves!
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is my favorite musical. I bought it on Prime, so I can watch it whenever 😂
I have never heard of that one? I’ll have to check it out and watch it! I love musicals.
