Summer 2024 / I want to remember.

As I say every year, summer is my absolute favorite season!  I’m sad to see it come to an end. After Labor Day weekend, summer is officially over for me. According to my daughter Hadley, summer is over when school starts which I don’t really blame her. The weather is still fairly warm out, but slowly starting to get cooler. But regardless of the weather, the season is over, which means that fall is coming.   

I want to take a look back at summer twenty twenty-four.  And so from Summer 2024…

I want to remember making the last day of school special for Hadley.

I want to remember the kids playing outside in coolers, filling up water balloons, and using the hose.

I want to remember Hadley laying with Huxley in his bed when he wakes up.

I want to remember Kevin worked the Taste of Cincinnati, ran into my aunt one day, and we visited him and walked around the next day.

I want to remember Hadley playing on the fourth grade softball team at her school.

I want to remember going to Hadley’s favorite park, the one with the zipline.

I want to remember having dinners on the back deck patio table.

I want to remember Huxley tried sparklers and pop-its for the first time and loved it!

I want to remember whenever Kevin cuts the grass, Huxley is watching him the entire time.

I want to remember going to lots of parks.

I want to remember Hadley got asked by a boy she didn’t know for her “snap” at the school festival.

I want to remember my cousin Austin graduated college!

I want to remember Hadley going to a local softball camp.

I want to remember going to the library and picking out books for the kids.

I want to remember getting our free fish from the festival, that turned into getting two fish, a fish tank, plus accessories.

I want to remember how much Hadley improved on swim team.

I want to remember Huxley loving his weed wacker toy.

I want to remember Hadley had lots of softball tournaments with her select team.

I want to remember going to the fire picnic with my parents, while Kevin worked overtime.

I want to remember Huxley having his blood drawn for the research study he’s in, and did amazing!

I want to remember story time at the smoothie place.

I want to remember how cheap it is to get the kids ICEE’s at Sam’s Club.

I want to remember going to the airport and watching the planes land and take off.

I want to remember going to Meijer’s and Huxley riding the penny horse ride.

I want to remember going to the zoo.

I want to remember always going to the firehouse after the zoo to visit Kevin.

I want to remember going to more parks.

I want to remember having some family over for the Fourth of July.

I want to remember taking our cousin to the pool for a few hours.

I want to remember the last month of swim meets.

I want to remember Hadley’s first out of town softball tournament, and leaving Huxley with his grandparents.

I want to remember how much fun Hadley had with just her dad and I for an entire weekend.

I want to remember how much fun Huxley had being at his grandparents without Hadley.

I want to remember lunch at Sam’s Club for the kids is amazing.

I want to remember Hadley going to a friends house to swim after volleyball camp.

I want to remember Hadley loving volleyball camp with her friends.

I want to remember walking downtown with Huxley, and how much he loved looking at the river.

I want to remember going to the uniform store and Hadley trying on skirts for this school year.

I want to remember Hadley getting the worst pedicure before we left for vacation.

I want to remember Hadley going to the Cincinnati Reds softball camp, not knowing a soul, and had the best time.

I want to remember how confident Hadley is at such a young age.

I want to remember going to Pigeon Forge for two days, and staying in a cabin.

I want to remember staying at a hotel with Huxley is not really fun at his age.

I want to remember going to Orange Beach, Alabama with my parents and brother.

I want to remember going to the lake on the way home from vacation.

I want to remember Huxley loving our boat, after it took him a few minutes to get used to it.

I want to remember Hadley making a new select softball team, and surprising her the day of the tryouts.

I want to remember my nine year old Hadley getting braces!

I want to remember Hadley having a lemonade stand in our driveway.

I want to remember Kevin and Hadley making homemade chocolate chip cookies for the lemonade stand.

I want to remember Hadley being invited to our neighbor’s granddaughter’s birthday party at our pool.

I want to remember Hadley going to the back to school bash with a friend.

I want to remember having a two day garage sale, that took so much work to get ready for.

I want to remember going to the zoo and riding in the caboose car on the train.

I want to remember visiting Kevin at the firehouse, and meeting a police officer flying a drone there.

I want to remember Hadley getting a back to school trim.

I want to remember the first day of fourth grade.

I want to remember Brady stopping by on his lunch break, didn’t call, & scared the living daylights out of me!

I want to remember Hadley loving Kings Island with my parents and cousins.

I want to remember celebrating a friends son turning eighteen.

I want to remember buying a blowup Cincinnati Bearcat, and Huxley obsessed with it!

I want to remember watching Hadley’s first softball game with her new team live on game changer.

We had a super busy, but fun summer. I’m sad it’s over, but looking forward to do more fall like things! What is your favorite summer memory?
